If there was a team competition, GB would have won the gold.

(Yes, I know things would have been raced differently)

6 riders max on each team was important.

Nibali wouldn't be able to descend the gradient % his descending abilities have declined.

I know its easy to type from an arm chair but FFS what was G doing?! You've seen 2 guys go down ahead and you STILL manage to come off yourself. Why didnt he just knock it back a tiny bit. Its not like the chase had its act together at that point.

Yep, I thought the same but need to see what he says before casting final judgment

Very enjoyable race, had it all, but Cummings could have had it if allowed to
Ride his own race. Big shame.

Can you point me towards Cummings's results in one-day races that suggest he would have been in the mix? He's great at sniping stage wins from breaks but let's not get carried away.

Not sure what more the GB team could have done; G rode a great race and might have been in the mix but for his crash. Yates followed the right move but didn't have the legs. Froome didn't look to have the legs either.

Dunno why a lot of the people on this forum watch bike racing TBH as it seem to turn them into right miseries.

I certainly think Cummings if he hadn't been told to drill it on the front, would have used his very big brain and made sure he was in the right break. Maybe I exaggerated a little but this is the internet, you have to.
  • Alaphillipe : split second hesitation - shame

BBC reporting Geraint taken to hospital, no other details
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.
  • British public confused YET AGAIN a why GB rider didn't win

Could have done without the offs at the end (especially as I wanted Henao to get a medal)

But at least the result is a lot better than London....

Thanks. I thought he might have been longer, but I guess the bookies rightly thought he had a good chance.

    Fulgsang was 101/1 on PaddyPower.

He would have been a good e/w bet.

Seems to be some confusion about this. Suspect they ve just had a plaster or 2 put on at the nearest medical tent which might also be a hospital. I don't think either are seriously hurt.

Porte is very likely out of the TT though apparently

Um, no, I know from someone with the COL team that Henao's at the hospital right now

But I'll let her know that there's no need to disturb the doctors there and that he just needs a plaster (or two) :-)

cracking parcours combined with small teams and high stakes = excitement.

    that route had everything

Seen cyclists complete races with all sorts of injuries, so not that surprising is it?

So not a malicious burn then ;)

    G is fine.

Nibali & LRP broken collarbones and will miss the ITT.

Great race, enjoyed every minute from 90km to go, sad about Nibali, Henao and Thomas

I'm more interested in Froome's form because Contador seems to be better every day. And Froome performed at a decent level, the best from the top 10 of the TdF

If Froome wins the Olympic ITT i would take that as a upward form towards the 2nd peak of the season, in which case we could have a good Contador - Froome duel in Vuelta.

    Heano has a fractured pelvis.

Plaster or 2 at the medical tent will fix that.
