What a race. It's been so long since the spring classics that I'd forgotten what a good race looked like.

Exciting race that, but that descent...
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

    Yeah I'd go for that

Bean is right, Sagan must be kicking himself. I honestly assumed he was riding both road and MTB

Very enjoyable race, had it all, but Cummings could have had it if allowed to
Ride his own race. Big shame.

    I was thinking that.

A race where GvA sprints against Fuglslang and Majka has got to have been interesting.

But...but...I thought their tactics were going to win, earlier on
  • Oh Sagz

    I wish you'd raced today

To be fair, and I have slated GB's tactics in the selection and the race upthread, I don't think Cummings would have either beaten GvA or been able to climb with Majka, so at best he could have done the Fuglsang role. That wouldn't have been bad, but it is also not that likely he would have been in the position, so whilst GB tactics remain laughable, it was a great race with a worthy winner, and I'd rather reflect on that.

How many monuments does a rider have to win before he loses the overrated tag? To mind it is one, but others might disagree.

Ugh GVA and his unacceptable face. I should have carried on with the holiday wine and not come home early.

I think I'd have preferred Señor Hairplugs.
    Correlation is not causation.
  • Crazy end to the race, starting with the final descent, taking out Nibali and Thomas amongst others. Then the two chasers catching the leader (tdf kom winner?) ~500 metres from the finish.

Don't think those words ever left my keyboard!

Might have discussed the bike changes, but that's about it. I 100% disagree with how Stevo was used, I think GB could do with someone new at the helm for the RR and I have for a few years.

Yeah, you had a classics rider with a GC rider/super domestique chasing a mountain goat. Great stuff

Can you point me towards Cummings's results in one-day races that suggest he would have been in the mix? He's great at sniping stage wins from breaks but let's not get carried away.

Not sure what more the GB team could have done; G rode a great race and might have been in the mix but for his crash. Yates followed the right move but didn't have the legs. Froome didn't look to have the legs either.

Dunno why a lot of the people on this forum watch bike racing TBH as it seem to turn them into right miseries.

I know its easy to type from an arm chair but FFS what was G doing?! You've seen 2 guys go down ahead and you STILL manage to come off yourself. Why didnt he just knock it back a tiny bit. Its not like the chase had its act together at that point.

It basically came down to a race between the two best team kits. Haven't shouted at the TV so much since the Classics.
