Ok. The sprint gave me a glance at what I was looking for.

Dimension Data are sponsored by Nederburg - it's on their sleeves and shorts. Nederburg make wine, but alcohol advertising is strictly banned in France. How is this possible?

Is it? I never knew that! Kronenbourg 1664 used to sponsor the Tour didn't they? Or was that only the Channel 4 coverage?

Perhaps they don't consider South African wine as wine in France so that's how they're getting away with it.

I must admit to finding it quite funny that they have 'neder' and 'berg' written on their bottoms.

    Roughly translates as "mountains below"?

    It's Cricket isn't it?

That's an excellent guess, but I cannot get the cricket where I am, so it is not correct. It is definitely cycling-related.

    Camper Van.

    Effing nailed it! Your go.

Sh1t. I feel like I've just beat Cav in a sprint and by a large margin too.

I spy with my little eye something beginning with T.

    Is it TGV train?

Why on earth do they ban alcohol advertising in France? It isn't Saudi Arabia. It's France. Home of wine.

    That was a lovely mountain.

The law was relaxed in part a while back after the french wine industry lobbied. An argument could be made that the way Nederburg is depicted (i.e. no slogan, bottles of wine or images of drinking) that the logo is only "information" and not "advertising" per se.... I know it sounds weak, but from what I gather that is how the law was changed.

I may have imagined it but I possibly heard that wine was OK but certainly spirits were banned?

A few years ago the Wales rugby team were sponsored by Brains SA - a beer. When they played in France they changed the logo to "Try Essai" - which is genius.

Yup that may be the case... they definitely relaxed the total ban for wine - just not sure how it works
