I can't get excited when the GC is looking inevitable.

GC was inevitable months ago. Froome is physically superior to them all, and a Tour specialist. History repeating - Armstrong (yes, assisted), Indurain, Hinault, Merckx etc. Froome is just this generation's exceptional rider.

The rest is unexpected, really - Mollema vs Yates for 2nd, whodah thunk it?

Shame about Contador and Quintana though. I decided my PTP GC pick by an actual coin toss, I really thought Quintana was going to be a dark horse.

Sky have been a lot more interesting to watch this Tour.

    I've enjoyed it anyway.

Yep. Agree with this. He also has by far the strongest team. I almost laughed yesterday when Movistar did the valverde attack followed by Quintana's digs.

When am I allowed to declare this year's tour a bit dull?

Every year, at every point of the year people declare that this or that race is boring. I think cycle racing is actually a lot less interesting than many people hope. It's not all about the GC either. I think it's been good this year, and it's far from over.

If yesterday's actual times had stood Froome would currently lead Mollema by 7 seconds.

all it will take is for a poorly timed mechanical for us to have a race on our hands again

Pro Cycling seemed a bit off with their pre-race predictions (made before Dauphine) - almost all of their pundits were tipping Nairo. A Colombian Basso.

This is true, but it is very rarely me.

TT's are generally dull, especially this early. I don't think it's been dull. Great to see Cav get a couple more.

It is a Shame Contador was out so soon.

I think this is the interesting thing. Not sure what has woken him up this Tour as usually he is up there but no real threat to the major players. I was wondering if his contract is up or whether he is stating his claim to be Trek's main GC man as Contador will be moving to Trek next season. As soon as the news of Contador changing team came out, Mollema began raising eyebrows with a sudden finding of form.
Riders during their contracts sit back a little and as soon as their contract is up, they suddenly get the old form back. Make of that what you will on doping but it may be that Mollema may be having to impress now.

He was in exactly this position at the end of the second week of the 2013 Tour, although he was over 4 minutes back on Froome then. He lost 4 places in the final week then, it'll be interesting if he can hold on better this year.

He (it's Alaphilippe) was unscathed apparently. Which is amazing, because that photo looks like it's going to end in tears.
