  • Awesome RichN95 - cheers!!
  • Its a shame ITV screwed it all up with the frequency of the adverts and sooooo many of them. Wasn't sure what I was watching, Adverts or The TdY.
And can someone tell David Millar to stop saying "kind of" in every sentence, its kind of anoying.
  • Couldn`t help but notice ho bloody freezing they all looked.

Must have been a bit of a shock coming over here to that weather.

Wiggins is an embarrassment really. He shouldn't be bothering with these races if he isn't going to even finish.

Is he even riding road generally this season? My guess is he only turned up in the first place as a PR favour. Why risk injury or illness just getting around a few days in crap weather with Rio 3 months away?
  • Wiggo was PR and nothing more.

Wouldn`t be surprised if he even got paid to be in the ITV4 adverts. Shame really , but he`s got other aims so hey ho.

Couldn't he just turn up in a non-riding capacity?

Maybe he'd intended riding the whole thing or at least a couple of stages but hadn't anticipated the weather being quite so bad?

Can't be the weather that put Wiggo off, it looked more Settle'd towards the end of todays stage.
While tomorrow it's forecast to be dry , a dizzy heights of 9 deg C and a 10mph tailwind, in the tropical paradise that is Leeds.
I live about 9 miles from tomorrows start, I'm planning on going to spectate somewhere. I'll wave for the camera.

On bank holiday monday there's a nice n easy 40k sportive, Wiggo should have signed up for that instead.

Was looking forward to watching this back after a few hours milling about in Beverley before a dash to Wetherby to see it go past at a race speed.

Yeah slightly ruined by the f#&King adverts and if I see that money super market advert with the prick in the hotpants one more time, I'll kill someone.

The team is not particularly strong even at Conti level. so having his name on the start list may help them get invites. Not an issue with TdY as its British and 3rd tier, but may influence some stronger overseas races

Got to agree Wiggins' performance is a poor show - they were interviewing young kids on the radio this morning and one said they thought Wiggins would win it and another said he was their favourite - my daughter who is 14 and not into cycling just laughed and said look for him at the back of the bunch - OK she may have been listening to me too long but it was so predictable it's almost funny.

Yes I know it's a PR thing and he has bigger fish to fry but if you are going to enter don't climb off 26k from the finish it is meant to be a serious sporting event after all. Riding round at the back of the ToB last year as a kind of farewell was one thing but this is taking the piss - go out on the local club run if you want a social ride and let the media talk about someone who is actually racing.

Wiggins is here for PR and like most of his team, getting some race miles in on the road to aid training for Rio I'd imagine.

I was in Settle and there was a noticeable groan when it was announced that Wiggo had climbed into the team car. Everybody wants to see him at the start and get a photo as he goes along, it's disappointing that he will no longer be doing that for the kids and new fans but would you carry on in the poor weather having had a crash if you had one big goal coming up that you had aimed at for months?

I don't think anybody actually thought he was there racing did they?

Certainly didn't spoil the day anyway. I will be going out to support the other riders over rest of weekend.
