I know nothing about the allegations but I did see him getting off the floor very rapidily.
I also know the peloton reassembles on the flat roads between Cipressa and the Poggio.
I also doubt that any rider would hold onto a car for very long when the pictures available showed Ian Stannard descending the Cipressa in such a hair raising manner.

What I did notice was how Démare followed Bouhanni and his team up the Poggio with the thoughts he had of the beating of Bouhanni.
The San Remo result was a vertual copy of Stage 1 Paris- Nice 10 days ago.

If only the finish had been on the Corso Cavalotti as it used to be and the possibility of Kwiatkowski heading for a monument or maybe Cancellara taking it.
What a shame it's another Sprinter.

His speed and cadence look pretty realistic on Strava - fudged strava files tend to look a bit odd.

    The question goes back to:

Why would Tossato and Capecchi complain? (And others according to RR) that he went past like a rocket attached to the team car? Has he been Terrying both their wives?

I've done the Cipressa many times and it's not the Cipressa. Road is too wide, too flat & the "wrong" buildings are there

It's not sunny, the rider appears to have a white bike when Démare rode a blue one etc. Wide road makes me think it's the Passo del Turchino

Here's the Passo del Turchino in Masone

Ned Boulting referred to "Mrs Inrng" a while back... don't know if that was by mistake though.

It was a red herring. All the letters in "inrng" are in the name "ned boulting" assuming his middle name contained an r

So we know now that she is a she or a he, has ridden many climbs, knows the peloton but doesn't judge.

    It's Eddie Izzard's chicken isn't it?
  • Chill your boots everyone. If he did it, you'll find out in a day or two. If he didn't, you won't.

Honestly, why get all crazy about something that's a pretty binary did/didn't? Life's too short.

Apart from a couple of quid on a bet, does anyone here really have any stake in this?

Well, we watch cycling partly because we’re interested in the outcomes.

Spare a thought for Sky, possibly denied their only Monument win if Demare did get a substantial tow (which is still debatable from what I’ve read).

A Belgian commissionaire in #MSR says rumors about Démare hanging on to car came from Cofidis (Bouhanni) camp. http://sporza.be/cm/sporza/wielrennen/1.2606137

Hard not to wonder what would be happening if it wasnt Sky who stood to benefit from this if it turned out to be true

Seems that the forum is pretty much talking it's customary line with regard to avoid accusation without evidence.
Absolutely not. There hasn't been one single post sceptical about the suggestion that he took a tow that I have seen. Maybe I have missed the odd one but I don't think so. In any event, the general consensus seems to have been that he must be guilty.
No-one has said he must be guilty. But likewise, if several independent eye-witnesses from within the peloton say he did something wrong, I'm not going to dismiss them either.
You would if it was Geraint (can't stay upright on a bike) Thomas though.

You come across as wanting to pick an argument with someone for something they haven't said. All I've seen on this thread is reaction to reports of complaints from riders which, given their historic ability to turn a blind eye, would appear to be reasonable. As for Rich, all he has done is post factual information and stated he couldn't see much wrong with it.

Do you think it's unreasonable for people to pass comment when riders complain the race winner took a tow? There's usually a fair amount of criticism when a rider does that in the bus during a Tour mountain stage (including when Cav did it in the past which shoots down your nationalistic bias argument).

This isn't about Sky, it's about fair play (yes I know that's not the done thing).

I guess he'll get away with it.
