Bouhanni and Kittel dropped, which is normal, but Talansky as well. He's not seen any improvement of form this year it seems.

Think it's a question of how hard the GC teams make it. If they decide that significant gaps can't be made today then Matthews could easily be there at the end. If they go hard then he'll be out the out back and won't get back on.

Just a shame that Ventoux is so early in the stage because it's one of my favourite climbs.

You never know with Albasini, but he's been invisible almost every time I've had him for PTP so he's no longer considered by me. Watch him win now.
He was the winning choice for me once, so I'll always consider him.
My PTP season has started on a shocker and will no doubt conform to what has become a standard pattern: picking long-shots early on, telling myself off, then playing safe to recoup points - before chancing arms on long-shots again in an attempt (failed) to leap-frog my way out of mid-table hum-drummery.

I would not have guessed that group of riders in today's break over Ventoux in a million years...

Greipel and Gougeard have abandoned. Rojas too after a crash and is off to hospital.

My strategy exactly. I like to think of it as panache.
  • don't forget only up to Chalet Reynard then right turn to Sault - so not the whole thing

It's been several years now since we have had a really good edition of the race.
    Today was another meh affair.
The loss of the Mont Brouilly stage hasn't helped.

2kms out, Geraint Thomas once again almost managed to crash, solo.
Staying upright seems to be his biggest obstacle in becoming a GC big cheese.

He's probably just overexcited about the rugby

I've just read in the PTP small print that if, like Simon Spilak, your pick goes into a hedge in the last 15km, you get a bonus 100 points. Geraint would have got 200 for the Tour stage last year when he head butted a telegraph pole AND went into a hedge...

In an attempt to put the commentator's curse on him, I'm going to say Dirty Bertie for the stage and Gc today.

I see Eurosport is on major delay! I'm still at 45km to go... presumably because TN overran...
