As mentioned on countless other threads - Dennis is an argumentative troll who thrives on debating semantics and trivia. He is best put onto 'ignore' - it makes the forum a far more tolerable place.

Or indeed you 'ddraver'. Ironically, I'm actually contributing to the thread - whereas your only post so far is an ad hominem. Not that you're a hypocrite, or anything...

On the other hand, perhaps we should all just stick to the topic...

It's probably just as well there are no hyphens to argue over... or apostrophes.

oi! an ellpisis is not just three dots, it's an ellipsis, the spacing matters, … not ..., see? totally different things, three dots instead of an ellipsis is the thin edge of the wedge, next thing you know it be banning apostrophes or claiming ligatures and kerning are superfluous, then we'll all be reduced to comic sans

This is really not a thread to boast about is it. The OP asks a valid question and gets a few serious responses, meanwhile you make sarky comments about links. By page 2 you and dennis are going round in circles until the OP valiantly tries to get the thread back on topic for a page. diy (bless him) genuinely tries to give us the benefit of his knowledge and wisdom but by page 4 we re back to Imposter/dennis ballroom dancing. By pg 5 we ve reached our happy little meeting and by now the thread is dead. Screw it, I have a quiet night in, I ll dance on it a little... (or …). Lets be honest, pretty much every thread in this section ends up in a similar way.

As to the OPs question, I don't see a single useful post from you. Dennis has at least attempted to give an opinion on gym work and cycling.

They are definitely there. Unfortunately, your terminal arrogance prevents you from seeing them. Meanwhile, if the current crop of replies gives you such a feeling of indignance, then feel free to chip in with your own useful opinions.

They rarely are. Occasionally, just occasionally, people listen to each other, and minds are changed, if only a little (meanredspider did somewhere along the way, I think). But it never goes well when people claim that "weights are essential to becoming a good cyclist" or the most efficient way. I'm not surprised when there's a firm rebuttal of that viewpoint, especially when the OP wasn't actually asking that question.

I don't know if you've read dennism's previous history on this topic at length, but it's not one in which logical debate plays much part. At least we haven't had the assertion that strength and power are the same thing this time. But now I've mentioned it...

I know him from the famous Armstrong thread most of all. He's certainly persistent...

2 people cut from the same cloth makes for quite a fun thread though

This one runs to 34 pages, and you'll notice Imposter is quite reserved, until dennism starts chipping in with irrefutable illogic. Do read it, for the back story... as you say, it is quite entertaining, in a hide-behind-the-sofa sort of way.

blessings and cod pieces aside. You do need to stretch. Surely that isn't up for debate

It doesn't have to take long.

I think this one has been stretching his codpiece too long.

What sort of tw@t would post a massively-long 'list of the world's fish' on a cycling forum?

Once upon a time there was this fish who lived in the sea but he was fed up with these fast streamlined sharks that whisked by and threatened to swallow him up. After a while he decided the best plaice to be was on the bottom, buried in the sand, crawling on his belly. In time the fish became flat. Flat as a pancake and stayed there forever but he never lost his sole.

Very good point. Stretch before, and after the ride. I know a fair few noobies who neglect the post ride stretch.
