He'll have decent enough workers at Cannondale, no? van Baarle, Langeveld, Breschel, Bauer, maybe Phinney. It's not Etixx, but that wouldn't be an awful 6.

Surely Sagan has shown that you can win monuments even with a pretty poor team?

Sep is a third of the rider Sagan is.

Then what does it matter what team he's at?

Because Sagan is super-human (in the metaphorical sense, not anything dodgy), but Sep is not and needs a team to help.

Edit: and even then he can't win

He's a twit, but my son's middle name is Sagan so I guess I'm now duty bound to defend Twitty Sagan against all comers.

I'd wager a large amount of money that Vanmarcke will end his career with a superior record in Roubaix to Sagan.

He might do, but Sagan will end up with a superior record in every other measure you might care to mention.

Ha ha... Phinney would make a lot of sense actually. Links in with Vaughter's earlier tweet about signing a talisman...

I'd weep if Sep went to Cannondale... would like him to get a stronger team for that classics, but Cannondale ain't gonna be that...

How about they are both going to Cannondale?

For sure, but Vanmarcke is arguably the best cobbled classics specialist of the post Boonen/Cancellara era.

The biggest fraud in pro cycling since Lance is that Sep has this reputation.

So over rated. Thomas and Stannard have a better cobble record than him, jesus even Kwiatkowski does.

No. Sep's problem is that he's just too strong for his bike. He rides it so hard he breaks it in the last 20km. Every, bloody, time.

Where is young Tao off to? Haven't seen anything about him moving at all.

Wasn't bye confirmed to Sky? Or am I just conditioned to immediately link every Brit with them?

In my defence he rode there as stagiaire last season, so I didn't pull it completely out of my arse. Only somewhat so.

He's got an offer from Sky, but last I heard it hadn't been signed yet. Possibly some Cannondale interest.

    Half-arsed!

Nah, he might be going there for all I know. I think I'll go on a fishing trip...

He's definitely got an offer from them, they confirmed that.

If I was in the market for a young British rider I'd go for Scott Davies ahead of TGH. (Doull & Carthy already taken)

I'm a big fan of Davies but I'd give him another year riding for Team Bradders and getting more experience, first. The team's race programme is decent enough to accommodate that

Well, in the interests of transparency.... Hackney in da house! Very happy to have both Alex Peters and Tao in the peloton.

As RR2 said, he rode for the 2nd half of last year, but that's it.

I've not seen him confirmed as being anywhere for the 2nd half of this year or for next year. I hope he's not off to Cannondale.

My mistake, I thought Sky had confirmed they'd given Tao an offer for 2017, but I can't find that anywhere, just "reports".
