Alaphillipe seems to be overwhelming favourite, especially if he is in the front group over the last climb. That means people are going to have to make it difficult and see about getting away earlier I hope!

    Jeannie Longo won by a greater time gap about 30 years ago, bit over 4 mins (although, as we've since found out, there is question mark about some of her performances). And imo not that nice a person anyway;

Do you know her? I ask because my parents in law do as do a number of other people I know locally and everyone says how nice she is. I've never met her, only crossed her on the road one day.

I know Pauline Ferrand Prevot doesn't like her much, but maybe PFP could have learned some lessons about longevity, assuming it was not all EPO fueled. PFP says Longo was never a good team member and she never really seems to have participated in the French structure.

Longo had an extraordinarily record of wins. You'd have to think that most of it was through doping though.

Why else would you risk your credibility by having your husband buy EPO for you in your later years. The shame of it.
No wonder Longo wasn't liked by PFP - who likes a cheat who's denied clean athletes their wins over so many years ?
  • Can anyone tell me if it is on tv? looks like its on Eurosport for 2hrs later this evening but thats all i can find..

BBC red button showed the entire WRR yesterday, assume will be the same for today.
  • Eurosport have the whole race on the ES Player, on just now but comms are world feed - Ant McCrossan and Rob Hayles.
  • Yeah just had a quick glimpse on Eurosport player, lovely scenery, cows with world champs jackets on and the bunch are just having a chat and a laugh... meanwhile the break has over 10 mins.

He's favourite, but Valverdes odds aren't much longer (4/1 or around there vs 11/2 for Valverde).

    Yateses both on 12/1

It is mentally steep! I rode it in the sportive yesterday, the pros were going up with a police escort and the motor bikes were stalling.
I think it is perfect for Adam Yates, there is no point attacking until the decent on the last lap of the Olympic loop then full gas through town and up the Höll, the decent from the top of the Höll to the finish is very fast and technical then 2.5km flat along the river to the line.
I really can't see more than 20 finishers as there is no point taking on the Höll if you are that far behind on the bell.
Off to catch the bus into Innsbruck now for an afternoon/evening with the Peter Sagan fanclub,

  • Does anyone know the reason why the TV coverage is different this weekend?

Is it a Eurosport thing or a BBC thing? Seems strange that Eurosport have had all the rest of the races but not the "main" Men's and Women's races

Is Stannard riding for the UN?

BBC have the rights in UK and when they choose to use them, Eurosport have to cede to them. It's a better deal than a few years back when BBC got them and did not use their minor rights one season and ES didn't have them either. That might have been 2015/16 or so.

So World Feed on ES Player all day and delayed coverage (likely with Kirby & Smith) later. Or live on Beeb of latter stages.

albeit even if ES had got it, theyve got live superbikes and snooker, both of which invariably take top billing against cycling...oh well thats the red button coverage for another 2hrs gone I suppose no great shakes as not much was happening

Barguil whining like a little girl, clearly didn't want to be there and has a stupid little fall. What a waste of space. Grade A loser.

Why are gb riding on the front so much? We do this every bloody year then have no one left when it matters. Leave it to Spain and Italy, even the Dutch or Columbians
