Froome's Data

Ok folks. I've been out at Christmas markets and wine tasting all day. Anyone want to provide a summary of the day's play? Sounds like plenty of off-season action...
A battle win for common sense, reason, science and evidence. However the war against idiocy, lunacy, spuriousness and baselessness continues
That'll never end.
Right. Ta folks. I'm off to crack open another bottle of cabfranc0 -
Just catching up with the day's play, some beauties on here. Well played chaps and chappessesIt's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0

I would like to buy Jeroen a beer. Possibly many beers. He's reminding me of Ben Goldacre the way he keeps his cool despite a torrent of nonsense flying his way.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0

Yeah there's still a lot of dross to wade through to work out what he's going on about.
I tried for 3 mins, gave up.
Let's face it, if a moderator of pro-race forum on bike radar with 26,000 posts CBA, no-one else will.
Yeah, that's what I was saying the other day - I find Twitter really hard to follow.
Particularly when people start breaking their message across 2 or more tweets.0 -

Me too. I try and treat it like sudoku by patching the train of conversation together but invariably it defeats me.
I guess it is just an "in the now" media tool and not for reflection. Places like this (and Esquire magazine) are for the real stuff.0 -

I sense a photo of a female dutch racer coming on...0 -
ddraver is just out for an opportunity to show his photo as part of the Gijs van Hoecke fanclub.

Boardman thinks more of these data releases (from other riders) would be good for both for credibility and interest in the sport:

It'd increase interest from a "sports gene" perspective, in that people who know about this stuff professionally can examine what makes an athlete so good, but it doesn't add any value to the actual sport.0 -
the trouble with other riders release data too, is then too many armchair pundits use this to say ride x is doping etc.
We've seen from the asylum that if you think the rider is doping this wont change that.0 -

He likens it to the stat- and data-fest that is F1. I think he might well be right, but pretty sure therer isn't quite the same volume of cash as there is sloshing around F1 to support it.0 -
-
Is F1 held up as something to aim at because it's managed to make lots of money out of being an increasingly dull racing sport?0
-
God if we're going to treat cyclist's bodies like F1 cars...
Grim.
That sort of stuff makes watching cycling less interesting to me. We either end up in a situation where poor understanding of data means I have constant meaningless figures being quoted at me, or we do understand the data and it takes all the suspense out of a given situation."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"
