It's a good point. I think many countries have this disparity. I guess Trump is helping a state which is less affluent and who voted for him (Pittsburg). That's democracy in action. California can wait till next election.

Pittsburgh voted for Clinton. How does Trump help the less affluent if his health care proposals remove health insurance from the 20 million least affluent/vunerable/elderly members of the population and at the same time give a massive tax rebate to the top 1%.
like Trump he's not worried about what people think in a PR bullsh1t world. He does want he thinks is right for his electorate & country. Trumps not a man to do what's easy.

Vitually all the nations of the world signed up to the Paris accord - Nicaragua didn't because it believed it did not go far enough. Syria is mired in huge problems. The greater likelyhood is the decision that Trump has made with regards to the Paris accord is more to do with the inferiority complex he feels with his predecessor, rather than the Pittsburgh miners and others he purports to represent. Sad that you admire a man who molests womens, doesn't pay his creditors, reneges on his election promises, consistently lies and takes no responsibility for his actions.

Coverage of the UK election in the USA today? Probably negligible. It's Comey time.

Especially if DJT has his phone with him while he's watching.

oh yes Comey time or 'Comedy' time if it wasn't so serious, I think there will be a lot of 'closed session' testimony where all the juicy bits will be... sure we'll have some leaks tho. Michael moore the fahrenheit 9/11 director has set up a secure trumpileaks website for government officials to leak to.

Look beyond just the words. He's pretty much flat out called him a liar several times. And the tenor of the answers is damning.

Yep, and still - like I said. He'll ride it out on a wave of "See, he DID reassure me three times I wasn't under investigation".

    For now.

McCain is not coming across very well - seems a little obssessed with Clinton and her e-mails and not sure how he is connecting it with the present Russian investigation.

So Comey will answer the questions about collusion between Trump campaign and Russians in closed session. Also deferred questions about Jeff Sessions collusion with Russia to closed session. Some partisan questions from Republicans, but apart from John McCain, generally the panel were respectfully assertive and to the point. Not the sort of circus I've come to expect of our own Parliamentary select committees,.

Comey had no notes and was pretty stone faced apart from his voice cracking slightly when saying that trump lied about the FBI. He seemed very well rehearsed/prepped.

That is easy if all you are doing is telling the truth.
Not saying that he is, but it makes the job easier.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

My thoughts too. The point he made that after having private meetings during his career with Bush and Obama, he instinctively felt he had to record meetings with Trump because he believed Trump would lie about them was quite a powerful point.

A prime case for compulsory retirement McCain is definitely showing signs of confusion/dementia thinks he's in a inquiry into Clinton not trump

Which no doubt explains why Trump never seems well rehearsed/prepped........

The man child has pulled out of coming over, doesn't fancy seeing mass debates against him.

Made the call during the campaign, came as a surprise to May.

A surprise. And yet, when he pulled out of the climate change accord, she was still cosying up.

She's a great interviewer. Makes the subject really feel like she's on their side.

I like the way he calls his father "Trump".

yesterdays cabinet meeting.. WTF, was one of the most embarrassing scenes i'd ever seen, looked like they all had to tell Trump one by one what an honour and privilege it was to serve him... his Narcissism has reached heights previously unattainable in the human race.

    Which is worse:
    a) expecting people to fawn all over your?
    b) have such little respect for yourself to act up to the president in front of millions of viewers?

The man is an odious c*nt, but the people serving him are just as bad.

That's the problem. Whilst he is clearly deranged the likes of Pence give an impression of normality that could make them even more dangerous

It's somehow akin to loyal subjects kowtowing to Kim Jong-un.

    Or is that just me?

They probably are but, to be fair, you can't determine that from the video. They've been given big jobs and a condition for keeping those jobs is to fawn all over Trump to fend off his enormous inferiority complex. If you don't do it, you get sacked. There's not much point taking the job on in the first place if you aren't prepared to tug your forelock at him.

an excellent article in todays washington post, here's a flavour
"This is the definition of reciprocal madness, which seems to have spread to the highest levels, as witnessed Monday in the strangest Cabinet meeting in American history. Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said it was a “blessing” to serve the president. Each secretary matched his example in what became an epic, circular kiss-up, praising Trump’s leadership (do you suppose the last lemming thanked the first?) and expressing his or her gratitude.

“It’s an honor to be able to serve you,” said Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“I am privileged to be here,” said Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta. “Deeply honored.”

“What an incredible honor it is to lead the Department of Health and Human Services at this pivotal time under your leadership,” said HHS Secretary Tom Price. “I can’t thank you enough for the privileges you’ve given me and the leadership that you’ve shown.”

Exactly. I'd like to think I have more respect for myself than to accept a position in his team. Fair enough if you thought he'd HAVE to change/become more presidential once sworn in, but there comes a time when enough is enough.

I've only just seen the youtube of Jon Stewart talking about when Donald Trump tweeted in 2015 out of the blue that he was way smarter than Stewart. Incredible.

I fear the way things move in the US, 4 years will be the time when enough is enough. There's a collective madness in the power circles of the US, when grown men and women fawn over him in public like they're auditioning for an episode of the apprentice. Very reminiscent of Chinese/Russian/Korean government meetings where dissent is a no no... sad
