The more that Trump and his cronies try to undermine the investigation, the faster the leaks come. One gets the feeling that there could be so much detailed info on so many aspects of Trump and the campaign, that short of shutting down the FBI, CIA, various other intelligence agencies, and sacking every district attorney in the US, that enough of the truth will out to sink the man, both as a 'politician' and as a businessman (given his blatant use of the title to enrich himself).

Once he's gone, I can't help feeling that if the US doesn't revisit its constitution to guard against such flagrant abuses and challenges to the very core of what the US stands for, that the US will leave itself in a very dangerous position. Fortunately Trump is too stupid/deranged to stop himself digging massive holes for himself, not least from his tweeting.

Of course, the alternative view is that the virtual anarchy that Trump is leading the US towards is actually the real goal of Bannon, and Trump is merely the conduit, abetted by a Republican Party so intent on passing their regressive policies that they can't see that they are being used as a destructive force.

Trump currently on a Twitter splurge, having a bit of a meltdown. He's back to Hillary's emails again... Dunno if he's noticed, but she's not POTUS. The whole thing is a little surreal... I still have to remind myself that Trump is, at least nominally, the President. I'm not sure any more what the President's role is...

Latest tweets: "Crooked H destroyed phones w/ hammer, 'bleached' emails, & had husband meet w/AG days before she was cleared- & they talk about obstruction?"

"Why is that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russia are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?"

"They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Nice"

"You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history - led by some very bad and conflicted people! #MAGA"

    What is he on?

Putin offers Comey asylum during annual phone-in session. Ha! You have to laugh at that.

Putin is probably having a big laugh at the shenanigan's in the US.
He's probably sat with a cup of whatever, feet up and watching the telly.

I suppose we should be grateful that Trump's not as smart as Putin, or the US (and we) would really be up Ordure Alley.

Borrowed time. The FBI investigation is a lot further forward than most realise and he's not far off being impeached...

It's quite heartening that Mueller is already appointing high-powered prosecutors with specilist skills - which would seem to suggest that he's already up to spped on the extent of the dirt. Thre would be a certain schadenfreude in seeing Trump's entire world come crashing down, given the damage he's been doing to the US Constitution, and the way he treats everyone around him.

    And then there's Paul Ryan.

And, to think, some were critical of our Parliament Act.

What? A democratic structure to maintain authenticity, procedure and legitimacy? Who would have thought.

The list is interesting, because, if the Russian ties go deep, they go down the list. Hatch seems to be out of that loop, Tillerson in. Mnuchin out. Can't see us getting down as far as Mattis.

The prospect of Paul Ryan is quite scary though. And I thought he was ok a while back.

If half of the Trump administration goes, is there any premise that another election be called? I am unfamiliar with the process.

I thought that Trump would fail because he would fail on his promises given time but not the because of some other event.

No. No process other than to repeal the constitution

I'm unclear what anyone is being accused of doing (other than Trump and obstruction). What form would collusion actually take?

I always thought it more likely that the Russians just wanted to get involved to mess with the legitimacy of whoever won - on that basis, mission accomplished.

Mueller has a roving brief, so can dig wherever he wants - and now that includes Russia meddling in the election process (so Mueller will be looking at financial stuff going on between the Trump team and Russian interests, and that'll include Trump's business interests going back years, and the possibility of money laundering - he's already been done once for that), who knew what about Flynn and when, Trump's blatant efforts to derail investigations, and so on. The pleasure is that Trump's inability to stop crowing about how clever he thinks all his actions are, and how unfairly he's being treated, is that his own words are allowing Mueller to widen his net, and use Trump's own words as evidence.

Yep. He should have been saying "wasnae me" from the outset but he keeps putting his foot in it.
    What a wonderful soap opera.
When whoever is given the Presidency and tries to pick up the bits for the remainder of the administration, we'll have another election. I just wonder how disenfranchised and disillusioned the already disenfranchised and disillusioned American electorate will be.

They'll be looking at some Hollywood Star to run.

    edited June 2017
    Mel Gibson 200-1
    Jennifer Lopez 5-1
    Michelle Obama 150-1
    Madonna - 125-1
    Jim Carey 50/50
    Phil Mickelson 1000-1

My money is on Warren Beatty. It would have been on Charlton Heston given his links to the NRA but he copped it.

Haha, Trump is rapidly turning into a satire of himself. This morning's 5am tweet:

"After 7 months of investigations & committee hearings about my "collusion with the Russians," nobody has been able to show any proof. Sad!"

Yeah, good plan - keep mentioning "collusion with the Russians", just in case anyone had forgotten what's top of the agenda. This will be sure to keep it there.

    Coming soon.

Keep an eye on Chris Evans. Not the ginger one though.

OK, I take it from that that nobody knows what anyone might be accused of doing. Having links with Russian companies isn't illegal, and 50% of the country is hoping that something shows up.

I enjoyed him implying that Bill Clinton talking to the AG and getting an investigation stopped was obstruction, not considering that it looks very much like he tried to do the same thing.

You gotta hand it to Trump - he's being true to his word, and increasing job opportunities in the US. Well, at least there seem to be lots of lawyers being hired in Mueller's team - another 13. http://edition.cnn.com/2017/06/16/polit ... index.html

Latest tweet saying again that the media hates it when he tweets! I bet they really hate the fact that it regularly gives them something easy and newsworthy to write about.

He calls them fake news, and in the same tweet claims he has 100M people following him.

Haha, indeed. It's splendid how he keeps stating stuff which is palpably and immediately disprovable.
