They did give the Russians advanced warning of the bombing.

The next few days politically will be interesting.
I think the solution is to first divide Syria up and then for the Russians to put a puppet in power to their liking. It's only Assad's power and the supposed strategic position of Syria that maintains their alliance with Russia.
If the west could do such a 'deal', I think they could get the Russians on side.

whats scary about Trump is one minute he likes Assad and Putin, he then sees some terrible scenes on CNN and launches 58 cruise missiles at the air base held responsible - that this has no doubt killed and maimed people unrelated to the gas attack is not a concern.
He is responding to events and lacks any coherent policy.

The cost is scary too. $1.59 million per missile.

Or, to put it another way, yesterday he spunked an entire year's worth of weekend security at Mar a Lago.

And that makes you think a) about how much war cost and b) about how much is being spent on Mar a Lago.

To put it into context: that's actually quite cheap.

Yes, government assassination happens all the time, whereas who has heard of a middle-aged man committing suicide? Supposing hypothetically that there was foul play, what was the purpose?

Which reminds me. Did the police ever find the murderer? And if not, is the case still open?

No it got shut down by that pretty straight sort of guy. Move along now, nothing to see here!

Ha both the Brexiters think it's a conspiracy.

    Of course.

In more obvious news, praising the narcissist for the first time in his presidential career for dropping bombs is only going to end up going on way.

No bombs dropped. Missiles fired. The media forget he's been doing this with Drones for months now.

That might just be down to the media. We don't get wall to wall coverage of the bombing of Yemen but we get wall to wall coverage of Syria. Funny that.

I am no antiwar peacenik, but I have to wonder.
Is there not a better solution to the problem of people bombing people than bombing people?
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

That would mean human beings actually evolving.
Although the Greeks had some odd philosophical ideas, they were no more or less intelligent than we are. The only difference; if you wanted to kill a number of people, it required archaic catapults, boiling oil or a shower of arrows. Now we can press a button.

Yeah, interesting isn't it. There's no shortage of human emotion, suffering and pathos there either.

One of his criticisms of Obama was his security spending.

Security for Melina and the boy in NY is forecast to cost $180m a year - Obama total cost over 2 terms was $100m.

This is a few weeks after Trump made cuts to meal on wheels.

Indeed, security for Trump Tower, Mar a Lago etc, will comfortably outstrip Obama's entire terms. I've no idea why this isn't being pointed out more. But, it seems, those in the rust belt don't care because he's managed to convince them that he's one of them. He is the swamp, the very definition of it.

If Assad had stuck to destroying beautiful babies with normal bombs, he still wouldn't care.

And all because he didn't want to be like Obama and not do anything when he said a line had been crossed.

Well, that's Spicer almost certainly gone over the next few days. Though I don't necessarily agree with the Anne Frank Center (sic) it was an incredibly poor choice of words/reasoning.

Just read a report: that a press secretary should be so apparently unaware of what he has just said in a press conference... I almost felt sorry for him.
