Donald Trump

You'd think someone who lives in Florida and spends a lot of time outdoors playing golf would have a natural tan.
He can't even do that right.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Someone needs to point out that when your hair is thinning so much you need to do the scalp as well

I suspect that, like people with rampant combovers with complete baldness behind (my dad was one, and my mum hated it), it's only the view in the (front) mirror that matters.

The land of the free and the home of the brave.
I'd be very surprised if Trump doesn't win now. Musk embodies what the USA have always aspired to be. A legal Immigrant, freedom, opportunity/self made. That's a strong endorsement, an inspiration for Americans. Especially given the ever increasing competition from the East.
I personally believe Trump is too old to be a president and a lot of his interviews/speeches are just waffle, talking for talking sake. The exact opposite compared to Musk, he pauses, considers, then speaks.
Harris is just too damn giggly and doesn't give the persona of a president, the complete opposite to Obama.

I've got a bridge to sell you.

Trump's going to win because the other person doesn't have the persona of a president??
0 -
I'm not going to bother arguing about anything, we'll just see in a month.

I don't say he's not going to win, but attribute it to him being more "presidential " whatever that means is laughable. The only way he is more like the past presidents is that he's male.
If he wins, it's because 50% of Americans that vote want a mad old bastard as president again.

And because he's a racist misogynist who a lot of people think will return the US to time when 'blacks and women knew their place', and turn the US into a Christian oligarchy (if that's not a contradiction in terms).

Trump has even more to sell...

Haha, this is funny. Trump worked out the best way for people not to leave his rally was to bus them from the car park to the venue. Then the coach company booked to take them back to the car park refused to do the return leg unless they were paid up front. Trump being Trump didn't, so the coaches left everyone stranded at least two hours' walk from the car park. No doubt they'll all still vote for Trump though.

Why have you not once said anything negative about Harris? I can see positives and negatives in both candidates.
I've already said Trump is to old to be president.
If your agenda is searching for negativity towards Trump that's what you're going to get.
1 -
Because he's absolutely nuts and shouldn't be anywhere near the Presidency. Harris isn't perfect, but she's just averagely imperfect. I can only assume that your idolatry of Musk and now his teaming up with Trump is influencing your judgement. I'm more inclined to pay attention to people who worked with him. Apart from his criminal convictions, his overt racism, his raping, his 'wanting to be a dictator', his incitement to overturn an election (etc, ad nauseam), what would you be prepared to overlook?

Anyway, as Stevo might say, "this is the Trump-bashing thread". If you want to start a Harris-bashing one, go ahead.

Did you miss the part where I said he's too old to be president. Again, you've never said anything negative towards Harris.
0 -
You can see positive in Trump? Is this purely because of his bromance with Musk or have you finally completely lost the plot?
0 -
Go on then, tell me what's wrong with her and her politics. FWIW, I'm not going to believe one word that Musk says now, in case you're taking a prompt from him, so you might try another angle, if you want to try.

Yes, he was spot on about the German gas pipe line (Nord stream 2) to Russian funding their military whilst the USA bank rolled NATO. He also tried hard to bring manufacturing back to the US. I will say it again though, he's too old to be president. In the same way as the majority of you didn't have anything negative to say about a clearly declining Biden.
1 -
What's the point though, if all you want is an echo chamber?
1 -
Manufacturing back to the US? Like the God Bless the U.S.A. Bible, also known as the Trump Bible?
Printed in China.

Finding positive things about Trump is akin to praising Fred West for being really nice to his mother and having a strong work ethic.

Trump could be 20/30/40 however many years younger, he'd still be an abhorrent person unfit to be the present of the local am dram society, let alone a country.
3 -
The make up would be more appropriate in local am dram. He does have a bit of a widow twanky vibe now I think about it

Another thing, none of you ever even talk about what's good about Harris. It's always what's bad about Trump.
Consumed by negativity.
I will repeat again, Trump should not be president, he's too old.
1 -
I think you've picked the one criticism of him that isn't really fair.

Sometimes the most positive thing about a person is they are far better than another person. In the case of Trump this applies to a significant proportion of the population. Harris just needs to be an improvement on Trump to be the better option and I can't see how she can be worse. No-one knows how good a President she'd be until she becomes President. Trump is a horrendous human (and I'm being generous referring to him as a human).

How can one not be negative about a convicted felon who repeatedly makes racist and misogynistic comments? An individual that tried to lead an insurrection against his own government, refuses to accept the legally binding result of a democratic election and has been described by former senior ranking govt personnel as a fascist.
If your fundamental criticism of Trump is his age, you are kind of missing the point about what makes him unfit to lead a country.

Notwithstanding the pros and cons of the candidates, I think you're also ignoring the fact that Harris is standing for a political party (the Democrats) that is way more aligned with the politics of most of the western world (broadly speaking). It could be a completely "clean" 45 year old Republican candidate but they would still be standing to promote the right, some would say far right, of the political agenda.
It is so depressing to know how much politics, especially American politics, is focussed on the person rather than the policies.
I didn't really know much about Trump before he stood first time but as soon as that video emerged of him bragging about sexually assaulting women ("grab them by the . . . ."), I could not see how anyone would deem him fit for any office and, its all been downhill from there and, amazingly, the polls are still neck and neck.
As the young lad who works behind the bar in my local said, they talk about an "October Surprise" - what possible "surprise" could there be with Trump that would dissuade people from voting for him? He's been found guilty of just about everything short of murder and even bragged that he could do that with no effect on his popularity. I'm pretty sure that as deluded as he may be, he also knows he can say and do what he wants, however untrue, unsavoury or illegal that may be and he'll still have a huge chunk of the American vote.
Conversely, one "slip" by Harris, however insignificant or inoffensive could lose her the votes she needs to win.
He's a megalomaniac, a control freak, he is not clever, he has no empathy, he is far, far from statesmanlike, he is a pathological liar, a philanderer, and a fraud.
If Trump gets in with a rap sheet like that, it bodes very, very badly for the next US election.
