Swiss citizenship is very hard to get. Friends of mine moved out there about 15 years ago and finally managed to get their Swiss passports a couple of weeks before Xmas.

It was amusing at first but four years on it was the main reason I came off twitter. The level of garbage was just too much and would have seen a member of this forum booted off multiple times for a bit of perspective.

Can he really get one because of that? I can’t get one through my wife being Dutch, and I know a mate of mine can’t through his wife being French.
Don't the Dutch require you to renounce your current nationality ?

I *think* my kids would need to renounce UK citizenship if we ever decided to get them Dutch passports in the future. My wife has dual as she was Dutch when we married (I guess in the same manner that she never lost her maiden name on the passport either).

If I’m wrong, can you point to any proof? Would be really interested to find out if things have changed.
  • Just seen his latest video - he still can't say the words "president elect Biden".

I have valid UK and Dutch passports.

I previously had to renounce when I turned 18, but that has changed with Brexit.

There might be some more specific scenarios than just being a brit.

So did someone have a quiet word with Trump along the lines of "denounce your followers' actions or become the first President kicked out as being unfit under the 25th Amendment"? I suspect the thought of being thrown out of office is worse for his ego than losing the election although it would play to his claims of being a victim of the political elite.

That is exactly how this is going to play out till the 20th.

Funny how many politicians are condemning Trump now whereas they have left him to do and say what he wants for 4 years. It seems the tough talkers aren't so tough when they are the ones in danger.

    I also noticed this bravery.

Meanwhile, China continues to arrest lots of people in Hong Kong.

    No its not.

    Right....

Loads of Trumpers were tooled up the nines during the past 4 years. More people were killed by Trumpers driving cars than Trumpers shooting people.

Trumpers carry guns because it adds to their ego, self image and 2A rights.

They know that if they start shooting its going to go very bad for them.

They will continue to carry guns and dress like the military but they won't use them.

If I have to explain this to you, well.....
It was idiotic because you completely missed the point. It was a comment on the irony of the lawmakers who are against gun control being protected by the unusually strong gun laws in the city in which they work.

Coincidentally CNN made exactly this point just now.

"If I have to explain this you you, well..."
Errr - you have missed the point.

They weren't protected by the gun laws......

if you honestly, really think that one person was going to go shooting up Capitol Hill then you are.... well. Say no more.

Yes, I posit that with lots of guns on both sides, that might have escalated somewhat further.
Why? Apart from the one shooting it hasn't escalated anywhere else.
I admire your confidence in the good sense of all of them.

    WTF is a Sharia numeral.
numerals used in Sharia beliefs. V common practice in Sharia based legislation, wills, financing, etc. Really common in private wealth management and interjurisdictional estate planning over the last 20 years.

We were all taught basic Sharia terminology and numeracy for Herrick, Telick, Toral.

Take it you are referring to numerals written in Arabic (Eastern Arabic numerals), as opposed to what we call Arabic numerals, which are really from India (via North Africa)? Don't think they are specifically related to Sharia beyond the use of Arabic script.

Sharia means law, referring to religious Islamic law (so the term sharia law is actually a redundant phrase.)

What it isn't is a script. Sharia numerals makes no sense.
