I did see an interview where Trump fans praised the affordable care act, but said how terrible Obamacare was.
Because that is the name they know it by because that is how it is referred to by the MSM and every political party.

How many average bods in the street know the proper name for the Council Tax? Or the Bedroom Tax? Brexit?

The key part, which admittedly I didn't explain is that along with being asked about the affordable care act, they were given a description of it. It wasn't a simple case of not knowing what something was technically called.

Yes, I imagine you could catch British people out the same way.

Pretty sure I saw a report that they removed two pipe bombs and a cool box full of molotov cocktails from the Capitol, so while I'm sure the faux military thing is partly a look, at least some were looking to hurt people. 14 police officers were injured.

    ugh don't you start.

He just wants to show off he knows how to carry a gun.

Yes, i do know how to carry a gun Richard. Lots of different kinds in fact. I'm actually very good at it. I do it so you and your family and your dinner party guests and their friends are safe.

If you knew me you would know that I hate, detest and can't stand the friggin' things. I have to patch up the damage they cause. If I could get rid of every one of the stupid things I would.

You stick to crayons and making people cups of tea and leave the adults to look after people.
Personally I'd prefer the Swiss approach of no annoying people in the first place. Cheaper too.

    Here's the point you missed:

    https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/resources/ccw_reciprocity_map/dc-gun-laws/#:~:text=Washington, D.C. is a shall,carry is illegal in D.C.

It is about probabilities. There were about 10000 people there yesterday and few had guns, on account of it actually being illegal there without a permit and since most of the people there would probably consider themselves law abiding, even if they were one of those who did get carried away and end up accidentally attempting a coup.

Getting carried away and accidentally attempting a coup with a gun would have been more likely to lead to shooting.

Does that help, or do you need pictures?

You just need to picture Matthew, red in the face, spluttering “Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Chasey?

    No its not.

    Right....

Loads of Trumpers were tooled up the nines during the past 4 years. More people were killed by Trumpers driving cars than Trumpers shooting people.

Trumpers carry guns because it adds to their ego, self image and 2A rights.

They know that if they start shooting its going to go very bad for them.

They will continue to carry guns and dress like the military but they won't use them.

If I have to explain this to you, well.....
It was idiotic because you completely missed the point. It was a comment on the irony of the lawmakers who are against gun control being protected by the unusually strong gun laws in the city in which they work.

Coincidentally CNN made exactly this point just now.

"If I have to explain this you you, well..."
Errr - you have missed the point.

They weren't protected by the gun laws......

if you honestly, really think that one person was going to go shooting up Capitol Hill then you are.... well. Say no more.

I admire your confidence in the good sense of all of them.
  • A newly elected lawmaker from West Virginia filmed himself storming the US Capitol on Wednesday, shouting in a live feed on Facebook: "Derrick Evans is in the Capitol!"

Evans, who was just seated to West Virginia's House of Delegates last month, was seen in his now-deleted video crammed into a doorway of Congress, telling others: "We're in! Keep it moving, baby!"

The Republican reportedly organised a bus-load of maskless people to come to the Capitol, and was seen wearing what appeared to be a motorcycle helmet during the fracas.

I did find it quite ironic how many of the protesters were wearing masks yesterday (presumably to hide their identity) when they were protesting about mask wearing a few months ago.

Rules on UK citizens doing that currently are very grey, so my friend in France has has to apply for citizenship as her husband is French. Whole thing is complicated further by her Swiss company wanting her to work in Switzerland which is a whole other bundle of fun an has to be completed either way by some date in march due to an EU change of some kind.
