Not sure this is good news tbh

    Inevitable wasn't it?

He can't divert attention from his actions in the pandemic now, can't go and hold rallies (unless he does, which is bad for him).

If he can catch it with every advantage he's had - might make people in risk groups like he is think a bit about protecting themselves more than he did.

He'll try and make himself look like a strong man if he gets over it or doesn't have symptoms, obviously, but getting a bit late now. He's a potentially ill man trying to get four more years when voting has already started. The only positive for him is the test.
Depends how badly he or his wife is affected by it.

If they stay asymptomatic or mild symptoms then it will hopefully remove a lot of the hysteria around C19 which can only be a good thing
Boris was very seriously ill. Why is that anecdotal case one that should be ignored, as opposed to an anecdotal (and yet to happen) case of Donald only getting it mildly?
Trump's symptoms(or not) will have a much wider impact, worldwide.

I'm not dismissing what happened to Boris but statistically he was unlucky (unless there are underlying conditions we do not know about)
Turns out Boris was fat, middle aged and unfit.

Hope that helps explain things for you.
    - Boris being overweight was known.
    - Unfit yes, when compared to the likes of us but against the average person his age he is probably fitter than them
    - Being middle-aged is not high risk from C19

That he probably continued to work long days when he should have taken the time off recovering has a good chance of contributing as much to his illness as the 3 above points

Genuinely interesting, were Trump to have to withdraw, whether it would improve or worsen the Republicans' chances of winning back the Presidency.

    Improve.
Don't think Pence gets the voters out in the same numbers.

Yes, could well be a ploy. Given that his doctors are dishonest enough to claim that he weighs 225lbs, despite the visual evidence to the contrary,

Is that supposed to be a good weight? Would it not put him in the obese category anyway?

Not at 6 foot 12 or whatever he measured.

    The BBC says

Donald Trump has clear risk factors - including his age, weight and being male - that all raise the chances of a severe coronavirus infection. He is 74 and has a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 30, which is the clinical definition of obesity.

Worsen. The Republican party is the Trump party now.

This is their 2020 policy platform - seriously.

    RESOLVED, That the Republican Party has and will continue to enthusiastically support the President’s America-first agenda;

    RESOLVED, That the 2020 Republican National Convention will adjourn without adopting a new platform until the 2024 Republican National Convention;

I feel fairly sure there is a 50% chance these will be dropped in 2021.

He's clearly a lot heavier than 111kg. I'm 6'5" and have weighed 111kg a couple of years ago (now more like 97kg) and even at my heaviest i did not look anyway near as hefty as him.

Yep, Sopel was making the point that the White House has comprehensive medical facilities and seemed to find the 'precautionary' message a bit dubious.

And they have already put him on Regeneron’s experimental polyclonal antibody treatment.

More to the point, he's stopped tweeting...

lets see if he drinks his own lies and swallows some bleach. I’ve heard it’s a good cure.

They need to make the press releases more believable. They claimed he's been working all afternoon and will continue working from hospital.

I think he classes watching Fox News as 'work'.

Is there a correlation between covid risk and hubris?

Herman Cain has been tweeting against masks even after he died of covid. That takes hubris to a new level.

So does the presidential debates continue in the absence of Trump?
Does that mean Biden will have a coherent but powerless adversary as a substitute?
    That could be interesting.

Oof, first time I've read the conspiracy theory that dems gave it to him at the debate.

All they had to add was that he was working "as much as normal".
