So the betting shops and charity shops have competition?!
Sums up my high street.

A classic from near mine - old school cycle shop of many years - dedicated to the purpose of helping people keep fit and healthy and looking good because of it. After many years it closed down no doubt due to being hopelessly unprofitable in the current climate. It was replaced by a shop selling beauty products dedicated to the purpose of slapping crap all over lazy people to make them look good without having to go to the bother of being healthy. It seemed to sum up the modern world quite nicely. On the bright side, that only lasted a couple of years. Forget what replaced it. I'm sure there are lots of new shops opening up - but that's really only a good thing if the businesses are sustainable.

Are you saying that we should use Twitter?
Noooo! I'm not on Twitter and will miss the knowing comments and ridicule of the man most deserving of that!

Something that is overlooked a lot in Trumps rise to victory and Brexit is Rupert Murdoch's power, the control he has over the people that read his publications and watch Fox news is stunning. Murdoch, still sat in the background pulling the strings just as he did in the Blair and Thatcher years before.

Free trade and the right to move and work will do. And whilst the European Parliament did provide good laws and protections to us in the past, our own parliamentary processes can do just as well.
Sadly I don't want to be subject to the current government here in Britain - I have contempt for it and hope that we have an election to change things.

Why does this sort of comment still shock me?

I do of course apologise if you live in an Eurozone country

    Its not true amongst me.

But although you have contempt for the current government they are the ones enacting the legislation that you and the country democratically voted for.

And no, your parliamentary process won't enact all the stuff that makes your life easier/cheaper - it will be domestic only.

Anyhow, back to Trump. Shall we open a book on what the announcement ins?

I also read in the Torygrapgh or Guidian that they are looking at changing the powers over the nuclear codes so that Dotard can't do it when he gets a sad on. Think that's quite telling about how the people in the head shed feel about him.

His tour of the East was a success. A huge success, a massive success, the biggest success ever.
He has secured World peace in our time.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

With so many mass shooting in the US Trump got confused when sending his condolensences for the latest mass shooting and referenced another mass shooting from nine days previous instead.

In Scotland you would call someone like that a 'Bampot' (aka 'Po').

    noun
    Word forms: plural pos
British an informal word for chamberpot.

Is there anything that it is possible to agree with Trump on and not be a disgusting person for so doing?

Both Democrats and Republicans should, if they have any decency, agree that whoever gets into the White House next just repeals everything that Trump has done without argument. Just regard his presidency as lost years.

That members of NATO should pay their share and not expect the USA to do it for them.

Nope. That expectation is only fair if you are equally prepared to do your bit elsewhere. So I'd say that I don't agree with Trump whining about NATO contributions whilst at the same time he reneges on the Paris agreement.

  • Was that just after the UK met that requirement or after cuts that brought us just below it? I understand at one point we were the only other nato member to meet the requirement for spending.

    It's a fair criticism.

Though there's an argument to say the US arming Europe keeps global spending on the military lower and ergo safer.

Yes but if you take it to a component level then probably Donald Trump thinks shoes are a good idea and I'd agree with him on that. You'd only be a disgusting person if you agreed with Trump that it's fine to complain about other people not paying their way when it suits you but not when you are the one who is taking advantage.
