Wonder if he'll use Grenfell style cladding on his wall to make it look pretty?0

I reckon Trump has secret Godzilla eyes.
He's been looking at his tan reflecting in a mirror all his life, the sun is dull by comparison.0 -

This presidency is just what we predicted, a slow motion car crash that we are all watching unfold. What we don't yet know is when the car will hit the tree and come to a shuddering halt.0

Let's hope it isn't leaking oil and over heating, else it could end up on fire.
He's already going against his foreign intervention promise by trying to look like the leader and sending troops to Pakistan.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Great allegories but no substance.
He is the first one to shut up N Korea.
When I was in the Parachute Regiment we only wanted blokes - suspect that perspective continues.
He is not sending troops to Pakistan - he is increasing troop strength to Afghanistan and telling Pakistan to behave. About time someone did.
'Both sides' did cause trouble in Charlottesville - same as in most demos in the UK.
He said nothing about the desecration of history caused by removing confederate statues....take your pickelf on your holibobs....
jeez :roll:0 -
Alright, who wants to tackle the nutter first?
I'll take a stab at some easy ones.
Charlottesville: fairly sure that a) only one side deliberately drove a car into the other side, killing one of them. That this is a well trodden fantasy of that particular side online is no coincidence. b) anti fascists tend to exist because of the presence of fascists. I don't see much violence in New York where they are largely anti fascist cos there aren't any fascists to start a fight. C) only one side turned up in army kit and with guns.
On the confederate statues; they were leaders who fought a civil war to fundamentally protect their rights to continue to use slave labour. That's just factual. Why would you want a statue of that? That most of the statues were put up during Jim Crowe and again during the civil rights movement should also make you question what the real motive is of having the statues. So I ask the question why is removing them a 'desecration'?0 -
Next one: shut up N Korea? In what way has it been shut up? Aren't they finding Trump's macho posturing a handy echo of their own, so it allows them to notch the usual wild rhetoric up a level or two?0
-
To be fair, everyone's entited to an opinion even if it's wrong
Aside from the clear moral equivalancy Trump portrayed, another thing on the issue of 'both sides' is that even Trump has sought to disavow himself of his own comments. In Viriginia he tried quoting his original statement verbatim on Charlottesville yet he chose to omit the bit about both sides, or 'many sides' were his actual words. Does he not realise his original statement was recorded?
It's a clear insight into his psychopathy.0 -

Maybe it does.FishFish wrote:He is not sending troops to Pakistan - he is increasing troop strength to Afghanistan and telling Pakistan to behave. About time someone did.
Is that different to Obama? Or Bush?FishFish wrote:'Both sides' did cause trouble in Charlottesville - same as in most demos in the UK.
When you have to balance your criticism of a crowd carrying Nazi flags, maybe you're not taking a moderate position.FishFish wrote:He said nothing about the desecration of history caused by removing confederate statues.
He did, and while doing it, he compared the founders of the USA to the leaders of a failed rebellion against the USA that was fought to protect slavery.0 -
Comparing the founding fathers to General Lee who apparently said at the time he was fighting for Virginia that he saw as a country in its own right. He turned down the top military job in the union because of this. A good American? Do me a favor! These statues are honouring somebody who did not see himself as of the same country. A traitor to the USA you could quite easily argue.
So the POTUS is supporting those who honour ppl that fought against the country he's the head of. On top of that he's equating them to ppl standing up for what the country has become, its future isn't white supremacists but the anti fascists and normal ppl of all races who stand together for each other and their country.0 -
Anyway, he's called for "unity based on the common values that unite us" now, so all's good.0

It appears that a Presidential pardon is an admission of guilt. In order to accept you have to accept your crime (which the Sheriff has been denying).
That acceptance is now compelling evidence in relation to any civil proceedings he's facing. Wonder if the Federal government will bail him out in relation to any damages awards? My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)
