Prob XL but you might sneak into a large. I take XL with 35 waist, 5ft 10. XL alpha

Just ordered XL and L , got price match on Wiggle ( and I've got trains delayed refund of £50 coming...)Fingers crossed that one pair fits, they get good reviews.
  • They're exceptional, I'll do my review later this week. For something that weighs nothing and has no windstopping they are supernatural.

Nice review BTR - question for you, I have found a site where I can land one for effectively £86, but the smallest size they have is Medium.

I am a small in a Gabba, and a medium in an Alpha - do you reckon it will be ok........?

  • Personally, I'd go for the small. The medium would probably be ok though, it's just a tad looser. In some ways that's what it's designed to be.

The Potenza does look nice, but If you already have the Gabba and the Alpha Jersey, then surely there is no need to get another jersey which works in roughly the same temperature range. Too much overlap, surely?

I guess so. But, it's just a nicer feeling thing than each of them. Way more breathable than either.

Ah, that might be worth something. I would sell at least one of the other jerseys in that case. No point in having all three.
  • That's a tricky one as well. I'd be inclined to say ditch the Gabba myself as I think the Alpha is as good as it in the rain, despite what Castelli say.

Thanks BTR, that has decided it, I will steer clear :-)

If anyone else wants one, Merlin have them for £99 in two colours (M to 2XL), the blue that BTR reviewed, and the Mirage that I think is lovely.
LOVE10 (Valid until tomorrow) chops 10% off once you have logged in, and if you go through TCB that lops another 3.45 or 5.?% off too.

Bizarrely the pic they show is not one of the colours they currently have in stock.

Here is the Mirage - LOVE that yellow zip *swoon*

I love the Alpha jersey a lot, one of the very best pieces of kit in my wardrobe, and I seem to like the Gabba more than a lot of people, and as it's in the Cannondale team colours I can't sell it!

@Robbo, here what you are saying re the overlap, but was intrigued due to the different materials used.
I think my money will be better spent on a more beefy fan for the coming, hopefully, warmer months 8)

  • I do think it's not worth changing, but if you're looking for a good spring/autumn/UK winter jersey it's on the list.

Right, what next. Let's do the Bonka...........

Hmmm - feeling tempted but just about holding back. Merlin prices are nibbling but I think I can resist...

    Same here...
Given the breathability, was wondering whether the Potenza would layer up well with a hardshell in deep winter?
Would probably get more use out of some Sorpassos though...

Excellent prices for Helly Hanson on the sports pursuit site - warm ice crew long sleeve baselayer is £29.99.
  • It's a little bulkier than a normal jersey, only a little. You might find getting the arms into a hardshell a little more difficult or annoying. You'd be warm though.

Potenza ordered  ....will probably be too big though given recent debate over the Alpha jersey sizing on me (medium was smallest size available in the Potenza and would have liked to try the small).

Am thinking this'll be nice for the offroad jaunts on the single speed autumn through to spring :)

Uggggh! Just bought a grey Alpha at a good price, didn't really need it. Now I'm tempted by this too, mainly because it looks excellent in Mirage! Must resist!

You had better be fast if you want to, as allegedly the code was only valid until 12pm (Which I take to be midday) today, but for me at least, it is still working.
Unless they meant midnight, but that isn't 12pm to my mind.

Mirage is the new black eh ;-)

I was out in the Assos Habu yesterday with the Craft wool one. 4 degrees and 30mph winds.

I figured a dynamo hub, some tailored and trimmed electric blanket, some holes for my arms...

I do fancy that Craft baselayer.

Had a look at an Alpha jacket in Cyclesurgery today. Does look to be an awesome bit of kit, but much tighter on me than my recently purchased Alpha wind jersey. Would definitely have to size up to large. Love the waffley inner face to the gilet part and the inside of the arms. Very impressed but too many recent acquisitions to justify another purchase - maybe next Christmas!

  • Potenza ordered too. Couldn't resist.

I've ended up with the following jackets/winter jerseys:
    Castelli Alpha Jacket
    Castelli Alpha Jersey
Castelli Perfetto LS (tags still on so may return but got it for £95)
    Sportful Grupetto Partial Jacket
Rapha Pro Team Training Jacket (the one BTR was selling, just wait for it to arrive)
    RH+ Tornado Jacket
    RH+ Alpha Neo Jacket

Too much overlap so need to decide what stays and what goes!

Tried a hot water bottle? Even better, my five year old daughter has a fluffy pig that you warm up in the microwave. Shove that down your tights, or up your jumper.
