    Peter Rabbit (kids Netflix choice)

Absolutely the worst film in a long time. Probably scripted by some film school graduate, loaded with "witty" script writers in-jokes. A waste of every actor's talents (apart from James Corden, who it seems would appear in anything).

When you have a Misfits Valentines Day with a bunch of Nannies* you are forced to watch a) Love Island and b) The Notebook

I have no idea how a) is the cultural phenomenon that it appears to be, but b) I surprisingly enjoyed. I genuinely did not know Rachel McAddams had those sorts of acting chops. I thought she was just a Regina George clone...

That twist at the end had me a little shook

Anna. Watch the trailer and your will know exactly what to expect.
You will be wrong. It is so much more that the usual fodder.
As an aside. Chapeau to Helen Mirren for showing Billie Eilish how to wear ridiculous glasses.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Greed. Saw it last night at cinema. The below BBC review pretty accurately summarises the content and balancing act of the movie (although I’m more positive about the overall experience you do leave the cinema with very conflicting emotions).
    Definitely worth watching though.

    Saw Parasite earlier.

A worthy winner for the Oscar. Very original, dark, funny and superbly acted.

Avengers Endgame in IMax - I've not seen any of the Avengers movies so the individual characters meant nothing to me. Was decent big dumb crashy bangy nonsense though. 12 year old Tashboy thought it was great and was able to tell me who everyone was afterwards.

Finally got round to watching The Rise of Skywalker...

Not really a nerd for this sort of thing so maybe I should've rewatched the last 2 first but....man that was a bit of a downer eh?

Rather hoping CV somehow gives Hollywood a K up the A and they stop making/remaking these god awful cartoons and try originality again.

    Balloon.

It was on Amazon Prime, nothing much on this Sunday afternoon so I thought we'd give it a go.

It's about a group of East Germans who decide to escape to the west by making a hot air balloon, and the Stasi are trying to track them down. Based on a true story and set in 1979. Gripping stuff even though it was in Geman with English subtitles.

The older I get, the better I was.

I watched The Sisters Brothers last night. I quite enjoyed it but the wife fell asleep.

part formulaic western but part exploration of the lifestyle of a couple of killers/bounty hunters/gunmen. It's quite slow moving but ultimately enjoyable with John Reilly putting in a surprisingly show stealing performance over Joaquin Phoenix.

I watched Mark Kermode's show about superhero movies, and his criticism of them at the end of the show applies equally to Star Wars and other franchises.

Rogue One stands out from the crowd in the Star Wars series, especially if you were the right age to enjoy the original when it was first released. Worth watching to get over the disappointment of The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker

    Disney+?

Yeah, we got the 7 day free trial and it's all we've watched since we got it. Moana, Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King, but the best thing was "Adventures in Baby Sitting" from the 80s!

    Watched Knives Out last night.

An entertaining Agatha Christie style murder mystery. Excellent ensemble cast really hamming it up.

Daniel Craig clearly enjoying himself playing the detective with a great Deep South accent.

    Definitely worth a watch.

    The Platform - Netflix
Should've stopped watching half way through when you could tell the film was going nowhere. The concept was interesting and there was a moral story to be told but that's about it.

    Motherless Brooklyn.
If you are looking for a change from crash, bang, wallop action films then this is the perfect antidote. Looking forward to wallowing in the soundtrack later to boot.

Lion King was the last time I went to a cinema to see a film .I say "went" because I did not see most of it . My kids tell me I fell asleep. My kids now have kids of their own who are older than they were then.Happy days. :)

Filmed largely in Australia standing in for the Lake District. Weird.

    Awful.

It’s not a classic is it.

And given the timeline, they’d all have been in mourning at the end having just lost everything they ever knew.

    Hunt for the wilderpeople.

Had no idea what to expect but was a well crafted and enjoyable film.
Surprising humour and distinctly original in feel.
