    On Chiesel Beach - Netflix

For 1 hours 30 minutes I thought this was total drivel - but the ending more than made up for it - if you do watch it - stick with it - its very moving at the end.

Anvil - real life Spinal Tap style rockumentary about a forgotten 80s metal band trying to reignite its fortunes on tour in Europe and then making another album (their 13th...). It's hard to believe that its not a pi55 take at times - they even visit Stonehenge! Ultimately quite a touching film about the way we choose to live our lives. Well worth a look.

Swimming With Men - gentle comedy from the same mould as the Full Monty, with quite a surprising closing scene. Also worth a look if you like this type of thing.

    Ghostbusters remake - avoid.

    The Kingsmen - Golden Circle.

Well, it made ironing a little bit more tolerable.

I saw Anvil back in the 80s. I'm gonna have to watch this.

If you like the band then I'm sure you'll enjoy the film (I'm not a metaller but certainly did). It was made by a fan and so is never mocking the band.

    Just watched it.
I actually thought it was a sweet and sensitive film about a couple of guys who had their day in the sun but it never kicked on for them. The lead singer seemed a genuinely nice guy who has kept striving for recognition and some fortune that he no doubt deserves purely for perseverance.
Interestingly the film was made in 2005 and they have actually now got somewhere. Supported AC/DC in 2009 on North American tour and feature regularly at specialist metal festivals throughout Europe. Good for them.

Yeah, the Anvil movie was quality. I didn't know anything about them before but was really rooting for them by the time they got to Japan. There's a great extra on the Dvd of the director joining them on stage at the end of the Japan gig.

Just been to see Us. I had high expectations which may be why I feel a bit disappointed with it. Its a really well made and well acted film, and kept me gripped for two hours. Ultimately, though, the plot feels like a bit of a let down. It's one of those films that I can't stop thinking about, but I can't seem to make much sense of! Maybe it will click in time....

Mandy, well there was lot's i liked about it but it's not for everyone, some great moments though, made me think of a trippy Stranger Things and reading Michael Moorcock, there was more to it than that but it was different alright and i loved the music colours and images.

dodged a bullet then - nearly watched this last night,

Instead watched Blindside (Netflix) - about an underprivileged kid who get taken in by a wealthy family who pay for his education etc - cheesy - but very watchable.

Blindside is quite an old film, Sandra Bullock I think?

isn't it based on a true story?

Yeah 2009 - it is based on a true story (whatever that means these days !)

Finding Your Feet - you know in advance exactly what you're getting with this film but it is done pretty well. An easy and pleasant way to spend 90 minutes.

I watched Miss Sloan which was incredibly good - with a clever plot. In addition I would certainly like to give her one

By way of contrast to a successful woman I also watched Brimstone which is worth seeing; I would be giving the game away if I told you it was about an unsuccessful woman. (for the record I would not give her one).

Polish, Post war drama/romance. You have to invest a bit of yourself to get the most out of it, but worth it.

Touching drama about the Iconic comedy duo's later years. Coogan and Reilly put in a seriously good shift.

RE Stan and Ollie, I've always enjoyed Coogan's TV comedy - Partridge, Saxondale etc but his performance in this film elevated him above being just a TV comic for me - a real eye opener

Then watch him in Philomena, not many actors can match Judi Dench in what is basically a double header.

    Us - cinema release.
From the same stable as Get Out which was excellent. This wasn't.
More of an out and out young adult horror film with some suspense which you'd expect. Plot holes galore. Couldn't fathom out the end scene at all. The final twist about the main character wasn't one as it was so predictable.
All on all Odeon cinemas in Bournemouth did well out of me on a Friday night. Mind you still got half a bag of their very expensive fruit pastilles to consume so all is not lost.

Intelligent drama, thriller, mystery, whodunnit. Reminded me slightly of Reservoir dogs.

    Mississippi Burning

Haven’t watched this for years and years, but time doesn’t diminish what a brilliant film this is and what a screen presence Gene Hackman is.

I’m coming to the conclusion that this is the best film ever made

It's certainly right up there in my top half dozen. Hackman is just superb in it. As if he's not acting at all. Definitely my favourite actor of all time. Gonna have to dig out my French Connection DVDs now.
