Finally caught up with Rogue One. Excellent, if you are into Star Wars.
Possibly the best of the series but maybe overly relied on nods to episodes 4-6. Time, and viewings will tell.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Chappie - If you enjoyed District 9 then you'll love this. From the same stable of the South African film maker Neill Blomkamp. Its nothing like his other SciFi product Elysium was quite dreadful.
It's not an epic film, just enjoyable with a few laughs. Dev Patel plays the role of 'maker' to a sentient robot which is brought up by gangsters in order to rob a security van. Hugh Jackman dispenses with his superhero knifed knuckles to play the baddie.

I read that twice and it still made no sense. Then I realised that Chappie was the name of the film and the post wasn't aimed at someone you were calling Chappie. Makes a lot more sense now and who on earth calls people "chappie"?
In my defence it's early and I have only had one cup of tea so far.

I gave my review of it back on page 3, couldn't finish it...thought it was terrible compared to District 9

Watched this ages ago, kids loved it whereas I thought it was at best below average and had probably the worst acting from the two South African rappers I've ever seen!

Although i like the actors in this that film was a mass of cliche, pure hollywood and very unrealistic, but as long as you can switch off and just watch it,it's ok.

    Big Game (2014, Action/Adventure, Netflix)

Samuel L Jackson plays a US President who has an unscheduled trip to the wilds of Finland and strikes up a friendship with a local 13 year old lad who is undertaking a coming of age hunting trip. They team up to escape baddies who are trying to kill Samuel. All sorts of jolly japes entail as they try to keep out of harms way, from tumbling down a mountain inside a chest freezer (under normal circumstances would have been battered to s**t and killed occupants) to hiding out in a semi submerged crashed Airforce One (hence unscheduled visit)..... Samuel certainly must be suffering from early onset as his gun handling skills from Pulp Fiction totally abandoned him by forgetting to cock the gun before firing. Dear oh dear.
Anyhow they all live happily ever after, except the gun toting baddies. Bravo!
Cameo from Jim Broadent who possibly had the worst ever American accent for a non American in recent cinematic history.
Verdict. F***ing awful. Enjoy it for its utter awfulness. And the final shot of about 200 US army chinooks to the rescue is the worst CGI I've seen in many a year.

Just took the little lady to see Beauty and the Beast.

It was alright, nothing more. Some of the set pieces, particularly "Be Our Guest" were spectacular, the 'gay' moment went by almost unnoticed and Emma Watson really can't act!

Still the little lady enjoyed it immensely and that's the main thing.

Inferno - 3rd outing for Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon in another Dan Brown adaptation.
It was that good I fell asleep. All I can remember it for was the truly awful script and overacting by the female sidekick (she who played lead in Rogue One).
    Zzzz. Zzzz. Zzzz.

Get Out - Parking Pataweyo has a bit of a nightmare meeting his girlfriends ever so white parents. It's a film best described as a Stepford Wives/Being John Malkovich mash up.
Quite 'jumpy' in places and a good thrilling ride. Would recommend.

Great movie for exhausted parents after a day of over chocolated kids. No thinking required, just zone out.

    Another Woman's Son.

Set in Jersey during the occupation, true story about a woman who takes in an escaped Russian who was a slave labourer for the Germans.

We watched it in St Helier, Jersey.

    Gone Girl
I didn't know anything about this film or reputation when I sat down to watch it. Thoroughly good thriller wit quite a few twists.
Rosamund Pike plays an excellent psycho. Ben Affleck plays her stool pigeon husband, but I do wonder at his acting ability as apart from his version of Batman he seems to always play a laid back/ blue collar type character. Neil Patrick-Harris has a small part towards the end and meets his end.

Urgh, doesn't bear thinking about. Fingers crossed I cop the full blast in the intial strikes then.

At last, I now know that I'm not alone in this world with my dislike of those two.

Watched 'The Girl With All The Gifts' last weekend having read good things about it and was looking forward to a viewing. The book that it was based upon was excellent but, unfortunately, I can't say the same thing for the film which was a bit sh1te really.

So me and my brother went back to our teenage years and watched 'Porkys'!!!

    Yes, it's immature
