An out of competition test? That test was taken during the Tour. Did Tom Danielson forget he was participating in the race when he sent out that tweet?
Well I never noticed him0 -

He was by far the least visible of all of Cannondale-Garmins not very visible 10 riders.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

The test was 'during the Tour' in much the same way as I lost my virginity during the 1989 Tour. Neither event actually took place at the Tour, both happened in America and involved an imbalance of male hormones.Twitter: @RichN950 -

Late developer. Congrats Rich.0 -
Testosterone? Is this part of this retro cycling fad or have we travelled back to the 80s?'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP0

I always see Garmin as kind of a dirty dozen. Essentially good guys seeking redemption from an iffy past.
Danielson always made me uncomfortable. He's the Maggot of that crew.
What made you think that?0 -
This was an out of competition test right? So does that mean he'll keep his previous Tour of Utah wins?0

I quite enjoy a Tilson rant.0

Lots of guys looking who got into bad situations (DZ, Ryder, Millar etc.) and Vaughters as a hipster Lee Marvin who gives them a second chance.
Danielson always gave me the creeps. He was someone that (according to riders in the US scene) cheated from the very get go. Thus the Maggot comparison. You know he's the one that's going to turn out to be bad from the off and then it does and you wonder why they brought him in the first place.
Yes, I watch too many old war movies. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

Who would he be in, say, A Bridge Too Far?"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I don't really get all the "this is a reality check" type comments. I mean who was pinning their clean cycling hopes on Tom Danielson?0

Yeah, but Gaimon got the last laugh: he got a tat of a bar of soap on the inside of his bicep with the word 'CLEAN' written on it.0 -
I wonder if Vaughters will comment at all until the B sample comes back.
Danielson really never seemed to fit there at all IMO. There was so much out there, not just gossip, bit first hand stories about him, serious grudges and the like. I understand 2nd chances, and I'm all for them, but sometimes a 2nd chance is just a 2nd chance for someone to cheat - and clearly to many in the cycling world Danielson always seemed likely to choose the 2nd option.0 -

Why would he? He can't win whatever he says until the case is confirmed. Internally, however, I imagine Tommy D's team issue blackberry is providing him with a series of interesting questions demanding responses."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

And a cookie decal'd Diamondback. Let's not forget that.0 -
sure;y the time has come to look into all this supplements etc the riders are taking. Some are fine but others are there for pure performance and so are only allowed as they've yet to be banned.
Why do they need all these supplements anyway, a balanced diet would be far better and to consume this stuff naturally
it can't be that easy to get all you need from a balanced diet when you're burning 6000 calories a day training and/or racing. a lot of that will need to come from liquid sources just for convenience
The trouble is the cyclists don't want to take the same gels you and I by in our local LBS. They want to take specialised supplements, which the cynics would say have a performance enhancement rather than recovery.
Maybe there needs to be a WADA \ UCI approval programme for supplements.0 -

I know SIS down the road from me sign up to this programme to certify their premises, as do CNP who I think still supply Sky. Guess WADA have enough on their hands without having to test factories as well as direct anti doping throughout sport.

Where is Danielson up to now - if the B sample comes back will this lead to a 2 year or 4 year ban or longer?0

Odd one I guess as he had a puny six month ban before. Hopefully he gets lifetime.
Either way, he is 37 so will come back even more useless than he already is (or do a Horner and win the Vuelta as an old man with hugely irregular blood values).
If a team employs him when he is back (highly unlikely) then that team requires immediate boycotting from the fans and race organizers.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Selfishly, Id like to disappear, but that hurts quite a few good people. Therefore,Slipstream's owners(me too) have decided to push forward.
