Got to feel for the organisers there.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0

I always see Garmin as kind of a dirty dozen. Essentially good guys seeking redemption from an iffy past.
Danielson always made me uncomfortable. He's the Maggot of that crew. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

Yeah. And really the story of this race - at least at the beginning - should have been the return of Phinney and Stetina...0 -
So not Tom Dumoulin then! Good
My reaction exactly
Danielson has always appeared dodgy, even to my untrained eyes.
Bald, American, old.
Hey! So's George Foreman but there's nowt wrong with his Lean Mean Grilling Machine0 -

Sorry folks, I misread Tour of Utah press release. It’s only Danielson that's withdrawn from race, not the entire team. Mea culpa. Apologies0 -

Just looked on his twitter. His last tweet is laughable and his banner photo is totally lacking in any class.Contador is the Greatest0

Tom Danielson Positive for Testosterone – Big Surprise?
--
“Tom Danielson notified Slipstream Sports that he was informed by USADA that he has returned an adverse analytical A sample using carbon isotope testing,” stated Vaughters.
“In accordance with Slipstream Sports’ zero tolerance anti-doping policy, he has been suspended from competition, effective immediately. He awaits the results his B sample.
“Slipstream respects and will adhere to the process of the anti-doping authorities and will not comment further.”Contador is the Greatest0 -

Matt Cooke. Who slings it around non-stop on Twitter but who has repeatedly refused to talk to a journos who've offered him the chance.
No time for him or his ilk.0 -

not good. I'm with Timoid"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0

I find it amazing that Danielson still has a contract TBH.
Vaughters should just disown him TBH. Assuming the b-sample comes back positive too (assuming that's not already been tested?) there's just no excuse worth making.
The schadenfreud here is a bit unedifying. Garmin were out in front of the UCI on no needles, and (before they went a bit corporate and weird) were a team that combined a message that they weren’t going to pressure young guys for results and were publically open about their anti doping measures. They even had kimmage on tour with them in 1998.
JV always used to say that a positive test would kill the team stone dead, immediately. Let’s hope that’s not the case on account of one idiot.
NB Weren’t there big rumours about Danielson even from his junior/collegiate days?
odd to think he wouldn't get caught... I hope garmin survive this"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. Well, Slipstream own the licence - and that's him and Doug Ellis and whoever else has skin in that game
But...Cannondale and Garmin are the title sponsors for however long their current and respective sponsorship deals run to.
So JV and Ellis cant close the team, just like that.0 -

If Ellis decides to walk and take all his assets with him, I'm not sure Cannondale would pick up the tab"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

What I'm saying is there will be contracts in place which will need to be honoured to their full term.
Unless those contracts included clauses invoking termination of contract in the event of a doping positive, of course....0 -

Which I recall poppa Vaughters saying was the case for Ellis at the outset. Not sure about now"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

sure;y the time has come to look into all this supplements etc the riders are taking. Some are fine but others are there for pure performance and so are only allowed as they've yet to be banned.
Why do they need all these supplements anyway, a balanced diet would be far better and to consume this stuff naturally0 -

it can't be that easy to get all you need from a balanced diet when you're burning 6000 calories a day training and/or racing. a lot of that will need to come from liquid sources just for convenience"Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0 -

I think that was just a dodge to get around Millar's problems with the tax man. He held some shares that were nominally worthless until such a time as the revenue were off his back, whilst taking a minimal salary, then cashed them in at a price oddly similar to the value of his contract for the same period..."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"
