Nairo/Valverde
vs Nibali/Aru/Landa
vs TJVG
vs Pozzo
vs Majka
vs Maybe Froome
Nairo vs Valverde
vs Nibali vs Aru vs Landa
I can't imagine there not being any team debates over who gets to be leader :P
And Majka would have no problem picking fights with himself over who's leader :P0 -
Is Horner going to ride ?0

Apparently Bertie won't be riding for the rest of the season?
I'd like to see Froome riding for Porte or G, good prep for next years tour riding with the other GC contenders whilst pretending its not important to win.'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP0 -

Not entirely sure Airgas Safeway have an invitation. Budget Forklifts seem to have missed out too.
If Froome does ride, he will go for the double. It doesn't make any sense for him to ride in support of anyone else. He is far too driven to enter a race like this without the intention of winning, and I suspect he will only ride if he feels he is in with a good shout. Don't forget he may never get another chance of a double with Quintana lurking and the fact that SDB has already said that the Giro-Tour double is not an option due to the importance of The Tour.0 -

Sky are never going to field a GT leader at the Vuelta who's going elsewhere next season. And Froome most definitely wont ride for someone else, even his bestie0 -

tend to agree...but am usually wrong
how does riding the vuelta equate to good prep for the tour when they will have some downtime over winter0 -
Bertie has ended his season, yes.0

Dont know where the idea came from that Froome riding the Vuelta, this month, would help him prepare for next years Tour. Its 11 months away. The best prep is a solid months rest/recovery followed by a good winters training, followed by a similar early season to this years. Riders tend to do the Vuelta if they have been injured or are looking for a get out of jail card.0

Of the top five in this year's Tour and Giro, nine different riders, only Nibali didn't start the 2014 VueltaTwitter: @RichN950 -

I'll go for Fronk Schleck. Reckon he can mix it with the best for sure. He's been brilliant since he was popped. In fact I think he finished one race.0 -

Froome and Contador only did last years Vuelta cos they got injured in the Tour and were looking for a GT result. The old theory that riding lots and lots of miles = fitness is a thing of the distant past. Quality is now the key and riding tired, as most who did the Tour will be, is not the way to go. Training is the right ballance of overload and recovery, without the recovery element you can do more and more work and get less and less fit.0 -

They don't get much of a break from the TDF. The training/recovery must be difficult to get right0

LtD been hit by a car during training and now doubtful for the Vuelta.0

Surly the tour is a warm up for the vuelta??0

A question on the off chance that someone will know. The answer's not on the website yet.
Does anyone know when the final stage in Madrid finishes? I'll be in Madrid and Atletico are playing Barcelona that evening and I was wondering if I'd have a chance to catch both.Twitter: @RichN950 -

Sir Chris Froome (Team Sky) will decide within the next week to ten days whether he’ll ride at the Vuelta a España and target a second Grand Tour victory in a year.
A number of big names who have missed out on their main targets for the year, have already confirmed their presence at the Spanish tour and they could be about to be joined by the Tour de France winner.
Vinenzo Nibali, who suffered a disappointing Tour as he attempted to defend his 2014 title, will line-up with Astana teammates Fabio Aru and Mikel Landa, who finished second and third respectively at the Giro d’Italia.
