Stage finishes with something of an unnecessary kick up in what is the year of the muur.
Other climbs include the following:
Km 131.0 - Côte de Saint-Cirgue3.8 kilometre-long climb at 5.8% - category 3
Km 156.5 - Côte de la Pomparie2.8 kilometre-long climb at 5% - category 4

Unnecessary indeed - a lumpy day with an uncategorised climb with a gain of about 200m just 10km from the finish, but still they have to finish up another 10% climb over the last 500m. Could be a real slowmo grindfest finish. Sagan vs Valverde vs Martin vs Vuillermoz? Maybe Purito going for his hattrick...0

is there scope to smash today's stage as a one day classic and 'see what happens'
if I could vote, that's what I would want!0 -
If the run in is straight, the speed they'll hit that final incline will be so fast you could stop pedalling and still probably make it over the line.0

I want sagan to win not come second to Valverde0

I am just hoping that Q-Ball and VV have a pop on the climbs.+++++++++++++++++++++

Caption says 560m at 9.6% which sounds a bit tougher than that to me!0 -

Tight right hander about 300m from the finish.0 -

I just don't think that is true for 570m at 9.6%. Someone with lots of time on their hands could even work it out based on kinetic energy and potential energy.0 -

I can tell you that from bitter personal experience!0 -

This is a Sagan stage in the true neo-pro, finish line film impression sense of a Sagan StageWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Ok. A rider travelling at 60 kph has enough energy (excluding wind resistance, bike resistance etc.) to make it 14.1m up vertically.0 -
And you would need to be doing about 110-120 to get up that hill (again just energy balance - no friction of any sort)0

One for Thomas maybe if he has been given the ok by Froome/Brailsford to get a stage?0

Or to get up there without pedalling. You'd need a very sticky bottle from the team car."The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -
Break at 4 minutes:

It's not straight out. Not sure how sweeping the bends are though.
The legend that is De Gendt is in the break. Good times.0 -

...and no, I did not see it, I am an afternoon text follower who does not seem to have time in the evenings to what the highlights.
As a consequence of being a text follower, I have absolutely no idea how to pronounce about half the riders names, so when I do manage to catch some TV pictures, I have trouble understanding who they are talking about!Half man, Half bike0 -
If Wilco has recovered from the early crash, he's a great option to go away with on a long-range Alpine attack. No threat to anyone on GC and desperate to make an impact....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

Was a bit bored, so here is the zoomed in map of the run-in:
and a Street View link to what should be the bottom of the final climb: https://goo.gl/maps/3M5A5 (just before the sharp right/left section on the map).
Always hard to judge gradients from Street View but it looks like a nasty wee climb!0 -

A perfectly located piece of street furniture too, right before the finish!!

No no no. I do that in my head anyway and make up my own versions, all probably wrong. So to get the right pronouciations will just make it worse.Half man, Half bike0
