TdF 2015 Stage 11 Pau-Cauterets *SPOILERS*
Right, there's still a race on. 6 mountain stages to go. It's still a long way to Paris, etc.
No real summit finish, more a gradual 4% 10 km drag. But, the Tourmalet and Aspin before that. Real breakaway day. Or... a repeat of 2013? Perhaps not enough mountains for that scenario
It's going to be hot, very hot. And, for those inclined to speculate in certain areas, a nice tailwind up both the Tourmalet and final 'climb'. Could help a breakaway stay away

Will Lotto try to keep the peloton together until the relatively early intermediate sprint?0

Descent madness!?0

Two of my favourite climbs here, although I prefer the Tourmalet from the other side."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I'm looking forward to this one.
I rode the Tourmalet from this side last year and the temperatures were similar, tough day!
Incredible descent off that hill, should be good in the race today.Cube - Peloton

Serge Pauwels is today's Sporza interview, says he decided he wanted to ride for MTN and called them himself last year. The team is more than just a business and he got sick of the way normal cycling teams operate."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Anyone not in the GC but looking for a stage or the polkadots will be wanting to get in the break for this one.
Of the GC riders, it would take Contador or Quintana to try and force things on the descent, Nibali is dead.
So come on My Man Tekkers!Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
Really excited for this one! Rode the Aspin and the tourmalet last month the same way as the riders will be today,in very same hot conditions, great descent from the tourmalet, got to be a breakaway! Looking forward to watching froome climb the tourmalet and hope Bertie brings his dancing shoes today0

Having to negotiate with Patrick Lefevre will do that to a man"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

There's an interesting parallel with Ax 3 Domaines from 2013 in the extra, perhaps unnecessary, effort expended by Porte and Thomas yesterday's final. That, and cycling's unicorn - the grand alliance, is about it for straws to clutch at, GC-wise....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

Do you have the whole team in your my man squad?0 -

Do we need to reminisce about GTs that were all over except that they weren't? Vuelta 2012.0 -

Yes he does. And I'm tempted myself. Quality move by Pauwels.0 -
They're off - and lots of early breakaway attempts.
Jungels, Kwia, Boasson H and Westra have a decent gap0 -

I could swear I just posted almost exactly that!"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Giant, FDJ, Lampre and Garmin have been chasing - breakaway day - but thsoe 4 are gaining time. Strong riders, but none of them you'd expect to go for the polka dots. There must be others planning to bridge the gap once the climbing starts0

Quality little group.0

I'm thinking today is quiet for gc, tomorrow it will hit the fan again0

It's a bit of a cheat, really, as I claimed the entire Qhubeka squad except Farrar. But as proud OP of the original MTN-Qhubeka watch thread I'm "allowed" ;-)

Does that give you more or less riders than frenchfighter?0 -
i think this is a really odd stage today. The drag to Cauteret is long enough and tough enough to kill any breakaway without a big lead. At least they aren't going to Cambasque though, bloody strange place to finish a TdF stage that is."Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0

FF has 34. I've got 22 Qhubeka and four others (G, Tao, Dan Martin, Stannard). I get all the domestiques etc. though, no cherry picking!Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

I dunno about not cherry picking, you seem to be leaving Farrar out to dry...0 -
All back together. Trentin wins the intermediate, Sagan 2nd. Greipel caught behind a split - he needed this
New break attempts with Bardet and Pinot, but unsuccessful0 -

Blimey, from talking about top 5 to attempting to ape Remy Di Gregorio in the space of 10 days."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"
