To kick things off:
Sep Vanmarcke is having a bit of a Tour de France existential crisis.
To translate (roughly):
(after moaning about how his classics season was a shambles despite good legs) "after that I was riding around for a couple days thinking 'what on earth am I going to get out of this Tour?'
"there are really very few chances in the Tour and those have been and gone in week one"
"Next year I'll have a good look at the Tour route to see if I'll come back. Is the Tour really for people like me?"

At EQS, Mark Cavendish lost a game of rock, paper, scissors with Renshaw so has had to give up the double bed in their hotel room0

Sky are mad letting Porte go, that would be like sharing a bed with a small teddy.0 -
So who want's to risk a libel charge and hazard guess at who's getting popped for doping tomorrow?0

Nice pun. If that wasn't intentional I'm going to feel like a right Charlie.0 -

I know its not gonna happen on Tuesday but can I express a day-dream for Sagan to breakaway for a solo mountain top win - say 30 secs on the field.
Then he would be in yellow, green, white, and polka dots0 -

If he did that.
He would come second.0 -

Have the win bonuses stopped? OK - so make it 40 seconds0 -

No - He would get ten secs win bonus - which would put him in yellow barring Froome getting second place on the stage. The rules seem to say that they are available on all road stagesARTICLE 26 Bonifications
Des bonifications sont attribuées dans toutes les
arrivées des étapes en ligne, donc à l’exception
des étapes contre la montre « individuel » et
« par équipe ». Elles sont de 10, 6 et 4 secondes
aux trois premiers coureurs classés.

We're talking cross purposes. Mine was a lame gag about him making a solo breakaway and coming 2nd on the stage.0 -
OK so which rider and team have had the best first week?
Rider: Froome - would have been a good week if he'd just stayed out of trouble, but he's managed to build up an advantage over his rivals. + he's been relatively aggressive and actually looks like a leader.
Team: BMC - Two wins, and TvG has been kept out of trouble. Impressive.0 -

oooh good call, hadn't really considered them.. but then they'e also had a bad week with Martin crashing out and Cav taking his time to find a win.
I also forgot to mention BMC had the yellow jersey for a day. On balance I'd still say BMC.0 -

Any rumours linking Nic Roche to BMC next year..?
Sky 5 seconds up going into last climb in TTT: ooh, hurty leg… oooh, can't go any harder… ooooh… Damn! Lost by a second… oooooh, get me agent...
Excited Commentary: "Sky have got this… But wait - who is that rider coming from behind? It's Roche! It's Nicolas Roche!!… Well that's Sky f@cked then…"0 -

Also interesting that before the race most of us were convinced that one of the big four would be completely out of the running or out of the race by the end of the first week.
They're still all in with a chance going into the second week.0 -

Once on Pau rest-days it was blood bags, EPO, whereabouts... Now L'Equipe dedicate an entire spread to Sky's parking.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

Interesting listening to Sky's Nicholas Portal that they expected Kennaugh to be up there at the end but he had one of his off days and therefore Roche had to stick it in. They hadn't expected him to be there at the end in the first place.0 -

Looks like he got a bike down off the roof there. Off on a ride to look for fuel?0 -

Roche isn't that bad but rather fell apart at the end, I'd suggest he was on the ragged edge, and couldn't go any harder.
I agree with the comments that BMC have had a top week 1, as have sky, and EQS.
What about MTN?, the lad who got and kept the KOM jersey through till tomorrow! think he's been very canny, though their sprint team has rather underperformed.0 -
I think the truth will out about Bertie and Nibs fitness levels come Tuesday afternoon. My feeling is that they are both canny riders and were both saving something special for the mountains, though their plans might have gone astray somewhat as they seem to have underestimated Froome this year.0

It's been a good week for My Man Tekkers, but he's only got 4 points in the KOM. I expect him to lose it tomorrow, but try and get in the break on Wednesday.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0
