Very unsporting of Froome not to tire himself out while Alberto was riding the Giro.
Froome has reiterated today about Lady Garden being his biggest rival. Think that is anything to do with Nibs' and Quintana's views before the race began. Or is that what he believes after seeing them all in the first 9 stages?
Probably for no reason other than he's closest to him on GC. He's also finished ahead of the other GC guys on the two uphill finishes, and they had a good battle in the Dauphine. Until the TJVG loses those 50 seconds on Contador or whoever I think it's fair enough to call him the main rival.0 -
I'm still hoping Quintana can win this in the mountains but I can't see how anyone could take back the best part of 2 minutes when Froome is in this kind of shape.
We don't know if Froome's climbing has improved since the Dauphiné where he struggled to beat TJ.
Yes, yes we do.
How?
He is looking good. Still plenty of pitfalls left though.
By knowing that he's a bloody phenomenal climber when in form and extrapolating from the incredible form he's shown, including on the few short ramps we've seen, in the first week?
I'm fairly convinced by him at any rate. He's looking very, very strong.0 -
2013 was Froome's most dominant year. He hasn't looked as strong as that until, perhaps, the last week. In week 3 of the 2013 Tour, Quintana beat Froome by ~1'30" over 2 stages. Wee Nairo has 2 mountain ranges to work with....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

True. Quintana was also very strong in the third week of last year's Giro after a so-so start.0 -
Dowsett sounded really down in the interview in the highlights. Reckon he might pull out(?)0

Nibs is 33/1 at the bookies. Wow.0

Are we completely finished with tie bonuses now?
Really, though it was just for the first week?0 -

He should be more than that, hasn't got a prayer.0 -

Yes, yes we do.
How?
Because Froome is not turning up to Dauphine weeks before the Tour to peak his form.0 -
Also, Froome is an easy case; to determine whether he is in shape one just have to look at his arms.

Can't believe Sky placed so highly given the squad they have compared to the others.
Looking forward to the mountains now and hope Froome's ultra high cadence and super rested body doesn't walk away with it.
Because he has hardly raced this year. 20 something days compared to Quintana and Nibali's 30 something compared to Contador's 40 something.
Easy life for some.
36 Froome vs 53 Bertie vs 45 Quintana & Nibali- another example of your lack of any form of knowledge, but of course it doesn't stop you posting junk.
He's just making sure he's got his excuses in early if HIS MAN doesn't win.
Okgo is on block so I didnt see this.
My figures are correct but dont include the TDF race days. Just sub 9. Froome had a paltry 27 race days at the start. Contador had 44, Nibali 37 and Quintana 34.
It took you all day to come up with take away 9 days for the tdf racing get out... and you still ballsed it up0 -

I predict the Christophe story will make an appearance at the 110k mark on ITV4, and on stage 10 for Mr Kirby0

That is a bit poor, time bonuses are a bit unnecessary in a GT.
There seems to be some differing views out there. As part of a restructuring of the points competition, Tour officials reintroduced time bonuses for the first time since eliminating them for the 2008 edition. Finish-line bonuses of 10, 6, and 4 seconds will be in the offing in the opening nine days of racing, but do not apply to the stage 1 time trial nor the stage 9 team time trial. The remainder of the stages, dominated by the Pyrénées and Alps, will not see bonuses in play.

There are differing views out there. But the views which say their are time bonuses on all stages are the right ones.
That Velonews article was written last October. They changed it since then.

I noticed no one was wearing a national champs jersey, apart from EBH.
Dowsett and Castroviejo for Movistar and Porte for Sky are the ones I can think of off the top of my head0 -

Porte had his Australian paint job on his bike. Didn't notice anything custom about Castroviejo or Dowsett.
I'm still annoyed they didn't win the damn TTT. If they had stayed in formation up that small rise then I'm convinced they would have won it.0 -

They are correct. The 45 from okgo is incorrect.Contador is the Greatest0 -

See what happens on Tuesday.
The confusion has occurred because the TdF did want to limit bonus seconds to the first part of the race, but it then turned out that the UCI allow you only to have them for the whole race or not at all. Annoyingly, I can't find the reference for this.0 -
How many times did Sherwin say 'The thing is, Phil, this team time trial is ALL about the last two kilometres...'.
HOW MANY TIMES?? Seven, eight, nine maybe!?
What a f * cking idiot.0 -

I presume it is 2.6.019 although that only states that you can't have intermediate bonuses without finishing bonuses.
