It's no Mur de Huy, it's not even a Mur de Bretagne. It's about as serious as the 'climb' in Le Havre on Thursday. The one that Styby won on.
It's not how hard the climb is in isolation, it's the fact that it comes at the end of a TTT when everyone is on their limit. It's very difficult to judge how hard you can go in the first part of the stage in order to make sure that at least 5 riders get up the hill as fast as possible. I'm sure we'll see more than one team getting it wrong.
On paper I'd have Astana favourite for this but they haven't looked very strong so far.0 -
Incidentally, GP de Plumelec finished on the the côte de Cadoudal in 2015 with the riders riding it a total of six times. Romain Bardet took the Strava kom on the 5th circuit. The race was won by none other than Alexis Vuillermoz!

Plenty could go wrong today. Lotto DSBART LEYSEN: “The distance of the team time trial – 28 kilometres – is not too long, but the course is very hilly, with three climbs. The last one is a climb of 1.7 kilometres leading towards the finish line in Plumelec. There is a big risk that some riders will make it too hard for their teammates. In each team there is a big difference between the best and least strong rider uphill, so you need to try to keep as many riders together as possible and after the climbs you need to raise the tempo all together as high as you can. You need to make sure not to lose any riders on the first climb. There will be teams with good intermediate times, but then will explode in the last two kilometres towards the finish.”...a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

BMC the main pick from the PTP'ers with 69% going for them.
Like the posters above hope Sky have a Dauphine Day and that everyone can get closer to Froome to make the next two weeks more exciting.0 -

Bretagne Seche 1 min 21 faster than Orica at the first Checkpoint. Long day for the Aussies.
How does the time cut work on a TTT?
I know you can miss the cut if you fall off the back, but a whole team? :shock:Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
Do hope Orica don't get eliminated
Coefficient 6
(étape contre la montre « individuel » et « par équipe »)
Il est accordé un délai d’arrivée établi sur le meilleur temps augmenté de 30 %.
So about 32mins for winner would make elimination about 41.6 mins. ie 10 mins lost will be very dangerous They have lost 1:45 to Lampre-Merida in the first third(ish)0 -

Surely if the other GC guys are still well behind Froome it will make for exciting racing anyway as they'll have to attack at any opportunity.0 -

Yes, but Sky are the masters of the dark art of defensive riding. They smother attacks at birth.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
The elimination - I think - applies to individuals as well; ie even dropped individuals have to be within 30pct of the time of the leading team
The general individual classification, times are recorded for each of the runners
as follows:
• 5th man 's time from each team runners who benefit from the following
above rule;
• The actual time of dropped riders.
However, riders arriving outside deadlines by Regulation (Coefficient 6)
are eliminated.
that's my translation of the rules in French here
Au classement général individuel, les temps réels sont reportés pour chacun des coureurs
de la manière suivante :
• temps du 5e homme de chaque équipe pour les coureurs qui en bénéficient suivant la
règle ci-dessus ;
• temps réel des coureurs attardés.
Cependant, les coureurs arrivant en dehors des délais impartis par le règlement (Coefficient 6)
sont éliminés.

Hmmm... Orica are only 6 to start with, one of whom is on a road bike not TT and struggling with injury.
It's 30% of the winning time, right?
It would be unlikely that they lost ten minutes, but if Sky/Astana/BMC/Movistar are flying then they're going to have to work hard.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

Is there any tactics to TTT ? Would you save your best climbers at the back for the last pull up to the finish line? It appears they don't do a rotating pace line / chain gang much, like this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbqZCrqV_wE"The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0

Sad sight seeing Orica just soft pedalling through a TTT.
Surely the worst time of the day.0 -
If anyone gets in within 28:37 then I think Orica have a problem. Bearing in mind it is 28km long that is not exactly likely0

MTN-Qhubeka off.
They could surprise some people today. Allez My Men!Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

But with just 6 riders and nearly as many broken ribs, the only competitor OGE is concerned with is the time cut. #tdf2015...a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

Theoretically yes. The big flat land powerhouses should drag the smaller guys along on the flat roads and then leave the smaller guys to take the lead on the 'climbs.' If it was a proper categorised climb then we'd see that more clearly.0 -
