Stage + GC for Pinot.
Tom D dropped Majka and came down 1.36 only on Pinot.
38km TT to come. He may even make the overall title his.Contador is the Greatest0 -

The slow motion slog that is the Rettenbachferner.
Pinot comes back to conquer the rest.
Thomas puts his Tiede time to good use.
Spilak shoots his load far too soon.
Birdsong left like a duck out of water.
Dumoulin surpasses them all by hauling his big frame up ahead of Tinkoff's super climber of 2014: Rafa "where's Oleg hidden my mojo?" Majka.
Remains in contention for the 38kms ITT that will settle this GC."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
I've got a feeling that Pinot is going to destroy them on the Rettenbachferner.
Why don't I just go with my instinct in the PTP?0 -
Oooh Astana rider is a Colombian. Will have to look out for him now.Contador is the Greatest0

Beautiful, desolate climb there. Spilak seems to save his best form for Switzerland, a bit like Costa!0
-
The CCC is Jan Hirt btw
Who, if memory serves, was featured in two or three issues of Rouleur when he was an under-23 rider as someone who could go on to make it as a pro.
Decent ride by him at this level.0 -
I see that the sages from you know where have decided that Tom Dumoulin climbing the Rettenbachferner faster than Leipheimer did in 2005 is fine, because they were all going fast, but Geraint Thomas is totally not normal because he has appeared over night.
Not biased at all, that lot."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
In a similar vein, from Mr Ten Dam...
“I’m quite satisfied. But it should have been better if I finished more in front, of course. I accelerated in a small turn. At that moment, Simon Spilak (Team Katusha) passed me while riding at his big cogwheel. That was too much for me as the climb had an average percentage of 13 percent. That was demoralising”Half man, Half bike0 -

Avenir winner last year. Looks a great prospect considering he was injured a couple of months ago.0 -

Cavendish is in this race? Wow, he has not even contested a sprint yet. And Kwiatek is also here but I am not sure what he is doing - probably chatting at the back with Cav.
Look at the stage profiles and the number of finishers in each front group to see why Cav hasn't contested a sprint.
AFAIK Kristoff hasn't either.0 -

Ah, of course it is. I was confusing it with one of the s early season races. Tour Med, possibly.
Would also explain why I couldn't remember who won it this yearTeam My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0 -
Pozzo showing what real cyclists do post an accident. They don't sit on their couch wearing stupid hats they actually recover and hit the roads and perform with the best of them.
Congratulations on the show Pozzo.

Didi made a return from retirement to cheer on the riders:

You mean like contador who bailed with a hurty knee after he was 2 minutes down on nibali after his appalling attempt at riding on cobbles?0

You are another Contador hater? You can have this for breakfast then:
Contador is the Greatest0 -
Not a hater, I have to say he made the Giro this year, but you aren't exactly consistent in your criticism of riders.
Some accidents are worse than others. Contador's was a ding - he came back and nailed the Vuelta - good on him.0 -

So you can empathise with what it's like to read some of your drivel then!0 -

Except Kristoff won a monument this year and Sagan was nowhere."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"
@gietvangent0 -
Surprised no one mentioned some of the abominably long socks on that stage.
Like a bunch of hockey players riding up a mountain.0
