I knew I was going to regret my move away from selecting riders for PTP from Team My Man where available. Went with the group favourite to try and protect my high placing #nopanache :(

Not looking good for Mollema's TdF chances IMO. Unless he has a word on how to recover amazingly with Aru perhaps.

Very unusual to see Valverde so far off on what was a pretty average climbing day.

Mollema is a mystery to me Joel.

He seems to hang in there and hang in there in the Tour and does nothing most of the rest of the year.

I reckon he will be alright still.

My Man Tek' in the KoM jersey (that's Daniel Teklehaimanot, but let's face it, even his fans struggle typing that)
My Man Louis Meintjes with a 6th place, 3rd in young rider and pushing for a top 10 GC.

Not seen any of it, but My Man has to be called when available.

Has nobody mentioned "The Dauphine Effect" yet? It's around about now it's rumoured to kick in...

It's been a while since we've seen the Dauphine Effect.

    Yes, thankfully.

I'd like to point out that I wasn't being entirely serious, but that no Dauphine is complete without the traditional "Effect" at least getting a namecheck.

It never effected Valverde anyway. His June race positions: 7 DNF 1 1 9 7 2. He's still 12th in this one.

    Not a spoiler ...

Q1: Is there full live coverage anywhere tomorrow? Eurosport only doing the last 90 minutes, and I really would like to find a way of getting a recording of the whole thing, as they are riding on MY roads tomorrow.

Q2: If there is, but it's not available on normal British cable, will any of you be recording it complete?

Q3: If you are, could I pay you to stick it on DVD(s)?? Pretty please!!

It's just that I know these roads well, it's going virtually past my front door, but I'm stuck in Devon. Boohoo. Perfect torture.

Nibali certainly made sure everybody knew he was stopping. Going to watch the highlights to check Froome's effort levels at the end there. And the scenery.

  • Mathias Frank - can be elusive then appears phantom like

T^jV - I never rule him out of the Tour title

but I'm mighty impressed by Scarponi's efforts and Intxausti whom I enjoyed watching in the Giro

but more Vuillermoz who has little wt experience and keeps popping up - I thought it was peraud but he certainly gets stuck in

That white-knuckle descent is well worth a repeat watch. Thin field quality here. Bardet was riding against Boswell-only for a long time. Boswell had previously shredded the peloton on the ascent. Strange that he was able to do so much damage.

Froome looked pretty cooked at the finish.

Frank has said that his form is good and it would appear so. Meintjes could become a very good rider, albeit probably a one week race rider. I have a feeling Scarponi and Benat will drop off on Saturday.

No. If Eurosport sends 90km then it's from the start of the tv coverage. Full coverage in stages really only happens in the Grand Tours on a few selective stages. I don't even think we get full coverage of any of the classics.

    Fair enough. Thanks.

If we don't get to see the descent down from the Col de Grimone, we've been cheated!

EDIT - if you think I'm being clueless, it might be as I haven't had a TV since 1996. Most of the time I don't miss it...

A team leader finishes ahead of another team's domestiques who'd been on the front the whole last 2 climbs

Spoiler threads should be kept clear of garbage trolling like this, do shut up.

I have no idea what this comment is getting at. Explain please :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

I'm surprised Nibbles sat up. That said Froome suffered last year having given all to win the TdF the year earlier so maybe Nibbles is prone to a bit of burn out as well?
'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP

Froome is so abnormally skinny that they need paperclips to tighten the base of the bibshorts:

Contrary to what is thought, Bardet said he had never knew the descent.

"I didn't know the descent at all but I remember Christian Prudhomme talking about the descent back at the Tour de France presentation last October, and this is a stage that I've been dreaming about ever since," he said in the winner's press conference.

"My goal was actually to stay with Astana on the climb because I thought that they would give it a go, and then I tried my luck with 500m to go on the Col d'Allos and no one went with me. From there I had to carry on and I managed to hang on.

"I would have been happy with a top five place but a victory is really something else. It shows how I've grown as a rider and it's nice to have major success at last. I hope this is a major moment for me."

Kiserlovski was in good shape but not at the level we would have expected. We retain our overall goal, which is a top-ten position in the GC for Kiserlovski

Who knew he could go downhill fairly fast?

    Anyone?

I certainly didn't. Had him down as a classic French wuss. What do I know.

Put in a decent attack at the tour last year. Came to nothing though.

It sounds like the action has kicked off early today. A very high quality break of 19 with a 30s lead. I doubt it will last though.

Edit: Down to ten riders now. The GC riders have gone back to the peloton.

A full list of the 19 riders that went clear on that descent. The group has 35 seconds on a sky-led peloton.

    10:01:26 GMT

Van Garderen, Nibali and Bardet have gone back to the peloton. Without them the break has a much bigger chance of getting away. 10 riders are now ahead.

They are: Grivko, Péraud, Adam Yates, Gallopin, Castroviejo, Izagirre, Losada, Alaphilippe, Gautier and Cummings.
