Froome attacking0

Wow. Nibali shuts down. Millar saying a refusal to go too deep to protect Tour form.
Is the correct answer. Sørensen said the same. Deliberately and controlled.0 -
froomes elbows on the go, not even looking at his stem0

Gap under a minute but Bardet under the kite0

Gap is 43s to Froome with LadyGarden just behind. Bardet looks cooked.BASI Nordic Ski Instructor

I've seen Froome much more thinner than this. Will be a beast come Tour.0

Yeah he's going to lose more time by the finish0

Damn its over already?
What a joke the start times are.
Sounds like a cracking stage. Bardet is notorious for long range attacks. SO happy this one stuck. Proper panache that lad has.
Look at how smoked he is:

Shame that Valverde couldn't do anything and although a nice move by Nibali that is ridiculous to stop. Froome looks like he is playing it safe as usual.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Bardet, wow. Proper racer. Big ring climbing too.
Contador is the Greatest0 -
Bardet, a local man, unlikely to be distracted by the frankly indecent vistas across the void.
Local, he's a Brivadois in the Hautes-Alpes. That's like being a Cornishman in Worcestershire.
Typical metropolitan elitism from Millar, there.
In fairness to Millar and You the commentator on French Television (FR3) said "he's a local man, he knows these mountains well".
Although his colleague asked him in what atlas the Massif Central was local to the Southern Alps.BASI Nordic Ski Instructor

Yates in 5th, better than the entire Sky support team. My man.

Froome not digging too much either, like Nibali.
You think?
A whole lot of work and early launch.
Looked a pretty big effort given how he crossed the line.
Of course a month is a long, long time in cycling.
It was interesting to see those up for in and the mix contesting and those apparently happy to quit early."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

Last year, Contador baited Froome into unleashing berzerker mode.

These early, late, early starts are not good. Missed it today.0

Nibali not exactly honouring the race.
Froome still not looking 100%, but great stuff by Bardet and Van Garderen.
Brilliantly judged ride by Yates.0 -
A team leader finishes ahead of another team's domestiques who'd been on the front the whole last 2 climbs
Spoiler threads should be kept clear of garbage trolling like this, do shut up.0 -
froome on the radio, looks pi55ed
Drunk? Or is he American?0 -
Stunning descending by Bardet, but he does know the descent very well.
Froome getting his form back, Nibs and Piti way off. Simon Yates and Louis M looking brilliant, Lady Garden too.
Going to be an interesting 3 days. Have we seen the beginning of the end of Valverde? Not exactly a huge gradient and he usually laps these up.0 -

He's usually always near enough to 100% all year! I wouldn't have expected this from him today, he was my favourite before the stage (along with Costa who also wasn't great).0
