Wonder if SKY will try something on a (wet?) descent tomorrow only for it to be too little, too late.
If I was in charge, I would make the pace hot on the Croix Fry to reduce the peloton - leaving maybe only one, at most two, teammates with Froome to keep the pace up after the top and have him attack - full on - as soon as they hit that 13% start of penultimate climb.

Were you deliberately holding back today? Froome finished 10 mins ahead of his nearest teammate. Roche and Poels finished in the bus @ 36'25".

Pretty cool by his Nibs to sit up yesterday and think 'you know what I'll sort this out tomorrow'

    8)

He's mister unflappable. He'll come tumbling down a mountain on his chin and you wouldn't know it 3 mins later by the way he rides.

Seems unfazed by more or less everything that gets put in front of him.

Agree with this. His head is in an excellent place at the moment. Had a great interview somewhere about being very relaxed and feeling much more mature about his approach to the main races this year. Hope he has the legs too.

Chapeau to the real racers of this world, for turning this race on it's head.
Awful conditions, used to their full advantage.
Well done to Simon Yates and Dan Martin for not sitting in the sheep group.
Thumbs down to the general lack of cooperation, in said group.
TJVG's solo'd for so long and still only ceded the smallest of time gaps, to just the off colour Froome.
Two seconds gained there, but over 2 minutes lost up the road.

Not sure if there is a long enough road to pull these gaps back, but a real warning shot for the Tour has been fired by the perceived default Tour champion.

Only just found out S4C are covering this race live with Welsh commentary if anyone fancies a change  Don't think they're showing tomorrow's stage though. They are also showing Velothon Wales live on Sunday.

Dauphine yes, Velothon no, according to my epg. :?
The probably can't sort out camera coverage, due to all the road closures.

What about Tiesj Benoot? 5th in Flanders, and now climbing with the leaders today in his first full season for Lotto.

Bloomin' shame TV missed all the good bits of today's stage (and they were the dry bits). But I was amused to see that the Vercors section was so wet... it gets twice as much rain up there as 10km further south, but it is incredibly beautiful in good weather. It's about time the Col de Rousset was in the TdF again - a pity they are bypassing it this year and have a flat stage going through Die.

Great stage yesterday - almost as epic as the cricket. Brilliant riding from Simon Yates too - I wonder if the Yates's will make it back home in time for the Bury Clarion Hill Climb on Tuesday?

Missed that but agreed, very impressive. He said after it was the hardest day of his career. When the big GC riders come out to play they make the classics look like a bit easy. And the GC riders do it and again over three weeks.

Fiddling with the start times again, this one is a relatively short stage at 155km. Start 1220, finish around 1640 local time (so for BST -1). Live on ITV4 1415 - 1600 BST.

Apparently Alexis 'le Guppy du Jura' Vuillermoz in the break. Also 'Petit' Kenny Elissonde.

Either of them will do for me.

Froome getting a bottle from a Movistar car. English people that were hating on the Giro for penalizing an English speaking rider due to it being an Italian race can suck on this photo.

Eh? An English speaking rider in a non-Italian race getting help without penalty doesn't actually counter that idea.

And as has been pointed out, it is allowed.

Flagrant disregard for the spirit of the rules. Exactly the same thing as unfurling the works and cooking-up mid-stage. Must be sure of his protection from Conflictson. Life ban.

Sounds like a brutal struggle to get into that front group. Now 18-20 strong. Peloton @ 4'

Well this was discussed a lot and numerous examples of this were pointed out.
Furthermore, please provide the UCi doc which says this is permissible?

Rules define what is mandatory and what is prohibited. They do not define what is permissible - that is implied by omission from the rules.

The mechanical assistance is prohibited by Rule 2.3.029. The is no equivalent section in the feeding rules (Rules 2.3.025-2.3.028)

    8. Non-regulation assistance to a rider of another team

    Providing refreshments is assistance.

So please provide me with the regulations so we can see what 'non-regulation' encompasses?

Wonder how Froome managed to get a bottle..."Can you help please Movistar, I am trying to chase down one of your men up the road and am feeling a bit down on energy?"
