Tinkoff:
Basso, Bennati, Contador, Kreuziger, Majka, Rogers, P.Sagan, Tosatto, Valgren.
Quality team for all occasions there although I thought they would have another leadout/classsics man.
Basso? Now there's some dead weight.0 -
Europcar team for the Tour de France: Bryan Coquard (Fra), Cyril Gautier (Fra), Yohann Gene (Fra), Bryan Nauleau (Fra), Perrig Quemeneur (Fra), Pierre Rolland (Fra), Romain Sicard (Fra), Angelo Tulik (Fra) and Thomas Voeckler (Fra).
Dutch police call off their strike.

If 'getting the Grand Tours in' means anything, here are totals accumulated by TdF line-ups. Team Sky: 50. Astana: 65. Tinkoff: 88.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Given that Holland had it's own Ferguson moment yesterday, a protest by the police would have been at best, poorly timed, at worst an invitation to disaster
Didn't seem that big a deal on NOS?
Then again, I was a g&t or two down...0 -

Nothing aside from their studios being invaded is a big deal on NOS. And I mean that only vaguely tongue in cheek.Correlation is not causation.0 -

What I mean is, even the news is not taken very seriously. It's very lightweight.Correlation is not causation.0

Tommy V's 12th consecutive tour - finished them all - and did well along the way
I think when he retires it will be one of those riders who receives 'full honours'

A Quintana win will seem like a bloodless coup. They won't have seen the little pr1ck coming but the other guys will be dead just the same. A Froome victory will be confirmation of greatness. Beating Contador is one thing, overcoming Kerriford twice is astounding. Nibali will serve up liver with some fava beans and a fine chianti: a feast for the cognoscenti. All mouthwatering prospects.
But only Contador can reset the heavyweight bar with a Giro/Tour double. Bring it.

Macaloon nails his colours to the mast. He, like Frenchie is gunning for Contador?
Anyone else gunning for someone who isn't Froome?
I can't make my mind up. So probably won't.
Also, goat: jonge benen, channel één, Wednesday, 8:45. Looks good!!0 -

Pinot for me. I'll set the telenet box for that tomorrow, cheers Rick"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I think Quintana will win. But I'd prefer a Contador double. Nothing much at all between them....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -
I still need to place my real life bet. Had a nice email from paddypower reminding me I have £13 still in the account today (and still left from a £2 bet on the grand national 2 years ago, has kept me going for ages that one!).
I want to go for froome, his dauphine performance looked pretty good to me. I just worry he'll bail halfway through again. Reckon he'll either win or drop out.
Head probably says contador though I think. I really, really hope we get to see some proper head to heads in the mountains - if we do it could be a fantastic tour.
Could just stick an e/w on all 4 of the main guys, guaranteed to get something back pretty much . Probably wouldn't make the stake back though (unless the main four did a 1-2-3-4 but I somehow think not).0 -

Head to heads on stages are also good - pick an insignificant battle and bet on the outsider of the two.Twitter: @RichN950 -
Not sure why there is so much hate on here for Roche. He's strong on all terrains, is a road leader and is selfless.
He had a cr@ppy Dauphine, but Sky will know what his numbers look like and seem happy.
I don't hate, I just think he's a bit limited. having said that to come 12th in the tour and what 5th in the Vuelta is by no means bad. he just doesn't have one outstanding attribute.
As a contender he is (all things being relative) limited. As a domestique, he's top drawer.
I think people judge him as they would a contender, so in their eyes he comes up short. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

I always to tend to cheer on Nibbles (even if rides for dirty dirty Astana). Not sure if he can beat Froome though.
Mainly I want a decent four way battle that goes into the third week. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

The climb at the end of the TTT could spell disaster for a team that loses a climber either through an earlier crash or a mistake. You might be limited by your fastest cobbled rider.
Wish I'd seen this earlier. I cycled to Plumelec from the north but turned round there. If I'd have known the route I'd have gone on to Vannes and come back to test it out. I've probably ridden that road in the past and there isn't anything super tough there. I'd imagine it'll be a big ring climb, the sort you can power up if you have the strength. It'd probably suit the likes of Thomas pretty well.0 -
I think Froome's 2013 dominance has been exaggerated by the doperati. It was a bad year for Contador, a 23 year-old Quintana was initially Valverde's domestique, and Nibali was Giro champion. Admittedly Kerrison's team disintegrated, and Froome had quite a lead at the time, but Quintana still skipped away to the tune of 1'30" in the 3rd week. I doubt much of this was gifted.
Froome's 'fragility' is as much his 3rd week vulnerability as pulmonary vigour and bike handling....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -
I'm about to venture down to the environs of Utrecht on the bike.
I shall report back on any sightings.

My recollection is that Sky rallied to a pretty decent team performance in the 2nd half of the race. The first half was, you are correct, a disaster."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Indeed. There were early signs of PlanBterol's willingness to walk the line in Stage 18's illegal supply of sugar transfusions to Froome. I forgot the resulting 20s penalty meaning Quintana only humped our Chris for 1'10s. Sorry for exaggerating Froome's inadequacy....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

ha ha, you insinuated his weight loss was down to clenbuterol without just straight out libelling him! You're the best."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Oleg tells ASO to stick 'em up
http://www.cyclingnews.com/blogs/oleg-tinkov/oleg-tinkov-blog-im-ready-to-boycott-the-tour-de-france-in-2016"I'm ready to boycott the 2016 Tour de France to make them understand that things have to change. It's not such a big deal. Similar things happen in other sports, players have gone on strike in the NBA or the NHL hockey league. I can afford not to go to the Tour de France for a year if all the teams agree not to go too. Of course it would hurt the fans in the short term but it benefits the sport as a whole in the long term. Otherwise we will continue to struggle. I really hope that ASO can understand that."
Er, good luck with that."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Quintana all the way.
I'd like to see Pinot and Bardet right up there. I'm usually a fan of Nibali but I'd struggle to get behind a Nibali win this year.0 -

For what it's worth I've just had a quick look at the weather forecast for Sunday and right now it's saying winds form the north-north west. This could mean only one thing.... ECHELONS!!!!!Correlation is not causation.0
