Tick Tock - Tour de France 2015

Tinkoff better hope Basso, Rogers, and Kreuziger are in much better form than at the Giro.
That said, I do think this arms race is always a bit of a MacGuffin. Majka should be with him when the group gets small, and as long as Contador can go with the 3 other favourites he'll be fine. If he's being outclimbed by Landa again then he'll be in real trouble.0 -

Not sure why that is interesting , it seems obvious, doesn't it?
In a way.
But I look at how inconsistent he was at the Dauphine and if he has turned that around then well done him.
He was good day bad day in France so he has either sorted himself out or the Italian champs was a good day.
I never even considered him for the champs to be honest.0 -
Interesting that Nibali has suddenly shown some form. Just in time for his defence to start.
Nibali has been doing his steady measured build up to the tour and is riding himself into form using stage races as prep as per last year. I think he’s still the weakest of the pure climbers or GC riders, but tactically is probably the most astute, and will have a pretty strong supporting cast. I genuinely think Contadors support riders are not in the same class as the Sky or Astana riders.
I dunno. I'd argue that Nibali is the most physically versatile, but Contador is a tad more tactically astute...0 -
its whether his legs can do what his mind whats to do, we saw that in the giro. last climbing stage. he got beaten up by that lot and limited his losses well, but with this he's got 3 world class opponents all of whom are willing to attack him if he looks fragile, and he has the weakest train going up hill.
Also factor in rodriguez, for the steeper finishes, though not for a high GC (think his best days are slightly behind him).0 -
rowe over bernie eisel, risky one that0

Hmm, not sure about this.0 -
There is a potential British winner for every stage this year. That's what I find remarkable about where we are.
I started watching cycling 'full time' in the 2005 Giro and it was big news that Charly Wegelius was in the break on one day. It's astonishing how far we've come in the last 10 years0 -
There's an awful lot of K's P's and R's in the Sky squad.
Poor Bernie, still I'm sure he'll enjoy spending some time with the family instead.Correlation is not causation.0 -

No strength in depth though“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
Tinkoff:
Basso, Bennati, Contador, Kreuziger, Majka, Rogers, P.Sagan, Tosatto, Valgren.
Quality team for all occasions there although I thought they would have another leadout/classsics man.Contador is the Greatest0 -

To be honest, I'm not sure I'm happy sharing a continent...Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

Jensie wrote the lyrics for that.0 -
Sky shooting themselves in the foot taking Roche. Dead weight. Henao would have torn up the roads - he was so strong in TdS and this race is all about the mountains. However, if it means that Henao goes as leader to the Vuelta then that is all worth it for him.Contador is the Greatest0

Roche is there as the road captain, a role Henao is nowhere near ready to take on.0 -
That Garmin cannondale kit is nicer than the tinkoff stuff by miles. Don't mind it at all0

From the same bloke who designs their National Champs jerseys. Good isn't it.

Astana just do everything possible for me to not like them.Correlation is not causation.0
-
I was also noticing that the Cannondale-Garmin team is very much a pre-merger Garmin team. Only one rider from the old Cannondale/Liquigas set up.0
-
Is that Garmin kit for real or is it a Gabba/Monton creation?0

Froome has said his best racing weight is 66kg, so I'd expect him to be close to that for the Tour.0 -

You've done that...0 -
It's a good job the Grand Depart is not on Yorkshire again it would be far too hot for them. :shock:0

Not sure why there is so much hate on here for Roche. He's strong on all terrains, is a road leader and is selfless.
He had a cr@ppy Dauphine, but Sky will know what his numbers look like and seem happy. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

I don't hate, I just think he's a bit limited. having said that to come 12th in the tour and what 5th in the Vuelta is by no means bad. he just doesn't have one outstanding attribute.0
