    The peloton are not giving this break much space and they've pegged the gap back down to 1:40.

    This Giro's route definitely ends in crescendo. Yesterday had more big climbs, but all gradual - today is for me, with the Finestre, the queen stage.

    Saxo and Jumbo consistently leading the chase - Kruijswijk with plans? I hope Bertie starts his effort on the Finestre. The Sestriere is just not hard enough

    Richer returns for a maximum effort today than yesterday. Another good, if ambitious, theory behind Contador not following Aru was to anchor Landa with him for the day, and maybe with Aru for today's climbs.

    I think that's a fairly good theory. Contador will open the taps up today.

    ^ Sean reckons he's got a chance for precisely those reasons and the tight leash on the break. And then he plays safe with 'The Dutchman' to avoid a Kroozcrash. I think he's providing much more insight than in previous broadcasts. Credit to Rob Hatch.

    RAI expert Silvio Martinello says sterrato section on Finestre is noticeably rougher than in 2005 & 2011. Real danger of wheel slippage.

    Only two left for Contador. Hope that if he gets a mechanical on the rough section there is a moto with a bike right there.

    Pirazzi moves is pretty good right now. Zakrain has increased his advantage also. 53'' with 41km to race.

    Oh yes here we go. Kangert goes, Kruijsvijk covers wiht Contador on the wheel. Landa, Aru, Uran, 1 Movi and Hesjedal there.

    Shame Konig couldn't hold the front group. Lucky it's dry today, the sterrato isn't in great condition.
