"You seem to have missed my point: Brexit was about getting a competitive advantage over our competitors: how are going to measure if that was a success?
If we weren't doing it for that, WTF were we doing it for?"
No for a lot of people who voted for Brexit including myself it was primarily about bringing immigration from the EU under control, for myself there was also the opportunities for environmental improvement made possible by escaping the EU's policies on farm subsidies.
Ha ha EA told not investigate lower level pollution incidences, more sewage storm drain release, pollution control is about enforcement not being out of the EU - Immigration? 3m HK Chinese allowed in, 1000s per week coming into the UK at present... immigration visas to sweeten FTA's
See if any of these folk will leave the UK as quickly or as easily EU migrants have.
Your choices have worked out well.

At least Cornwall wasnt singled out...

The guy in the top left picture, the only one with a positive rating, is Doug Beattie leader of the UUP. In the same poll he's within the margin of error of knocking the DUP off the top spot in Unionism and out if the Executive Office entirelytailwindhome said:The NI electorate in a really foul mood
This morning he's fighting for his political life after an ill judged (but quite bland) joke at the expense of the Edwin Poot's (former DUP leader) wife led people to wonder what else he'd tweeted and yikes....“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

It's unfair to judge someone based on what they tweeted when only a naive young 48 year old.tailwindhome said:A tweet is a long time in politics

The paper from Agri Minister Edwin Poots is to go before the Executive, SF have indicated they won't allow it on the agenda. Poots says this means he won't have permission for the checks from the Assembly, that they're therefore illegal, and will stop

probably safe to assume another couple of % to the end of 2021 and I would chuck in another 0.5% for pre-referendum nerves.rick_chasey said:
For anybody who can be bothered to calculate it is a truly mind boggling sum of money forgone.0 -
George Osbourne explained all this and the public made their choice over five years ago.surrey_commuter said:

I'm certainly not proposing to relive it. That's my point.0

It’s not unreasonable to measure the impact of it, no?TheBigBean said:I'm certainly not proposing to relive it. That's my point.
People criticise economists for their predictions etc so why not give credit when they get it right?0 -

We've not left yet.
Too early to tell.
We've left.
No point in analysing the impact.0 -
Its funny how some on here think that it is unreasonable to check goods at a border. The French are certainly checking what goes to them so it is so unreasonable for the UK to reciprocate. Essentially the EU have had a one way large grace period on this issue.0

It is a ballsy move to blame the French for Brexit. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -

does anybody have any credible answers why the national newspapers and TV are ignoring this?rick_chasey said:0 -
Dover Port says there is always high traffic in the second half of January which hasn't combined well with some boats being out of service. Therefore, as it can't be blamed on Brexit, it is not worth reporting.surrey_commuter said:

Apparently, though it is worse this year due to the out of service boats. It can be measured by how often they implement some policy or other.surrey_commuter said:

Because there has been a cunning media plan by Boris to leak antics about parties so that other issues get overlooked.surrey_commuter said:

Banks have to hold a certain amount of cash (or equivalent) for a given amount lent out.ddraver said:Can the city monkeys explain..?

EU is relaxing rules on how much you have to hold back to lend to certain firms (in this instance those without credit ratings)
That makes it cheaper for banks to lend money.
Obviously it makes banks a little less stable, which is the trade off.
So to compete the UK regulator would have to follow which they’re unlikely to do right now.1 -
