  • Could be worse => victory for Boris.

    I'm summarising.
  • I'll be interesting to see what's in the deal, other than no tariffs and fishing stuff...

How about research partnership, medical cover, how about exchanging driving licence if you move to the EU or to the UK from the EU? Basically all those advantages of the membership we had before...

Well we already know it won't be a bad deal because no deal is better than a bad deal remember so I'm predicting we've negotiated all previous right in return for a few fish. Either that or Farage will be crawling back from under his slime covered rock using words like traitor a lot.

I think it just reflects the falling trust in BJ... with a deal in the bag, I guess many people will change their mind

Agreed. What is the logic behind that?

Boris waffling on about how alike are to the EU, how close and similar we are, and how we will have free trade with them.

    Yep.

    Lying again. Liar.
  • Shame for the Erasmus scheme. On the plus side, looks like we are still going to be part of the European Research Council, which is vital to research and innovation... in fairness, lots of non EU countries are part of it... Israel to name one

  • BJ just announced Erasmus funding will be redirected to a worldwide scheme to send students abroad... we'll see how that pans out

The Turing programme sounds like a good idea. I would have really liked that.

May be worth finding out what's in the deal?

Anyway, better late than never and you've still got 7 days left to enjoy. This seems to be strangely appropriate in terms of band name, song title and opening lyrics:

I asked when I was at university and was told it was too complicated.

Sounds like the EU won the fishing quota although it is not clear what will happen in 5.5 years.

Also, anyone who liked Brexit as way to have higher standards will be pleased.

It has just become an election commitment, which should put Labour, Lib Dums and the Scot Nats in their place

In 5.5 years it is very likely fish consumption will be much lower... it's quickly going out of fashion among the younger more environment conscious individuals... we have pretty much given up eating fish... we maybe had it a handful of times in 2020.

Unless you have replaced all that fish with seasonal fruit and veg with low travel miles then you won't be doing the planet a favour. This is the problem with the environmentally conscious. They appear blindsided to the cost of food production they can't see.

Why? Because it is a stupid decision and they only do things that are stupid.

Add business, anyone who wants to travel in Europe and the economy to the list of losers.

"The Office for Budget Responsibility, which is the government’s independent economic forecaster, expects that with a free trade deal, the UK economy will be about 4% smaller in 15 years than it would have been had the UK stayed in the EU."

The European Commission too states that the “EU and UK will form two separate markets, two distinct regulatory and legal spaces. This will create barriers to trade in goods and services.”

"And extra barriers equals extra costs; the extra admin alone, the tax office says could cost British business £7.5bn."
