BREXIT - Is This Really Still Rumbling On? 😴

So the EU wants to support Spain in applying what amounts to economic sanctions in its bid to subjugate a territory contrary to inhabitants wishes? All in the name of EU unity.
Nothing to get in the way of the project, no?0 -

It's certainly a quick start to the difficult road ahead to separation. The EU can't look a walkover if they want to remain a peaceful union. It will be interesting to see how this develops with regards the views of Gibraltar's population and the trade pressure the EU are prepared to apply.0
-
In simple terms Gibraltar want a deal similar to N.I.
Will they get it?The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
It's likely Gibraltar would choose an economic siege over over any involvement from Spain in the future.focuszing723 said:EU backing Spain's claim to Gibraltar in the next phase of negotiations with Brexit.
Boris Johnson will be presented with the choice of reaching agreement with the Spaniards about Gibraltar’s future or exposing its citizens to economic peril by pushing it outside any EU-UK trade deal.

The remoaners are not going to like this
An Italian university is opening a campus in the UK for around 250 students, the majority of which will be Italian or French.
If we were only listening to the remoaners this would never happen as there is not a chance that the UK was going to get foreign investment following Brexit.
More evidence that Project Fear that remoaners were pushing is laughable.0 -

Still at least I can afford it - maybe not the same to be said for those who holiday in Benidorm.
No VISA. European travel authorisation, costs €7 and valid for 3 years. Not exactly onerous.

Same for any country exporting to any other country. So no real change. However we won't get nearly as much of others having a say in our domestic affairs. Which seemed to be a vote winner back in 2016.Jeremy.89 said:

Mitigating risk and having contingency plans has value to a business. Otherwise they wouldn't want me to do it.kingstongraham said:

We do similar things all the time to deal with the many other things that change over time and/or are uncertain."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
Not knocking what you do, it's just a waste in the same way that what I'll probably have to do late this year is, in December when every company has to change/test systems at the operational/accounting level because they don't know what's coming until the last possible month. Happy Christmas everyone.0

Interesting development from Nissan in the FT.
They seem to have a plan to move production to the UK if there are tariffs on cars, essentially gambling they can grab a huge chunk of the UK market share (from 4% to 20%)
Ill try to post a link when I'm on my desktop.
Im sure there's a bit more to it than I've described
