How appropriate to celebrate with a mug.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

I think it's a shortage of tissues because of all our liberal tears isn't it?

    Is remain/rejoin/whatever a liberal issue?
In the greater culture wars, absolutely.

I'm assuming that is because it has become an abbreviation for liberal elite.

Is there a pattern emerging here? ;)

The more acceptable version for the office (especially if your name is Richard) is the 'ICK' mug, which has a D shaped rather than C shaped handle.

I bought my younger brother a mug with a realistic male appendage as the handle, the issue with it is that the handle is hollow so it gets very hot if you try to use it. Might be more acceptable? Went down a treat with my mother at Christmas at least...

I don't follow. Is he trying to drink from the end of the handle? :#

Maybe open this in your own time rather than work's but the handle is hollow so the hot drink goes into it as it does in the rest of the mug

But love that the current thread title already indicates that we should kowtow to US opinion to win a favourable trade deal.

Useful twitter thread on the proposals for a "radically new" immigration system, that is actually much the same as the current non-EEA system.

No but it's obvious our thread creator feels that's a mistake and by inference that we should therefore just do what the US tell us to keep in their good books. Slightly ironic for someone who wanted us to get out of the EU so we can take back control!

She does not quote MAC’s own numbers for how much damage their own proposals will do to the UK economy. It really is one of the strangest things I have ever read.

I know. I am simply saying that the decision to give Hauwei a role in the 5G network indicates we aren't kowtowing or whatever to the US.

How cringeworthy was that performance by Farage and his cronies today? I can't imagine anyone other than the real lunatic fringes of Brexit supporters didn't find that embarrassing. Presumably Mr Toad realises he is going to be disappearing from the limelight very soon (maybe that's the Brexit dividend that gets mentioned) so opted for the all publicity is good publicity approach?

Pross has already explained this. I am not arguing we have.
A take back control supporter has suggested with the thread title that we should.
    I found that mildly amusing.

The woman seated at the right hand side (as you look at it) not taking part in the waving of the Union Flag to celebrate Brexit is the DUP's Diane Dodds.

Immature and disruptive to the last.

On the other hand, some EU bureaucrat was telling the Brexit Party MEPs off until the last minute even though this was the last time they would be seen in the EU parliament - apparently its against the rules to have national flags in there (which is quite telling) :) Although the Pro-Remain MP's who were waving the EU/UK scarves with the UK flag on one half seemed to get a free pass...

    All very sad.

I sort of found the very undignified UKIP behaviour quite comforting; it helped remind me why I really do think kippers are fundamentally very awful.

Whilst she was always a bit right wing for my political taste I always thought she was a serious politician who stood by her convictions. I'm not sure if it was her taste of 'fame' on Strictly but ever since she seems to have turned herself into a parody. It's embarrassing to watch.

Some chat in places like the FT that Remain really screwed up; not just (obviously) with the ref, but then betting it all on a revoke over trying to push the gov't into a soft Brexit (remember that phrase?).

Have to say, (and i think I've been consistent on this), I tend to very much agree. The campaign (in which I was a rather small cog) totally missed the mark and remain MPs absolutely should have coalesced around a Norway plus style scenario; at least, for a lengthy adjustment period.

I don't think anyone disagrees that trust in parliament is really quite low and it's fairly clear what leave did to affect that, but equally so did the frustration of Brexit for the aim of revoking as opposed to moving to a more sensible Brexit.

They've now really lost out and it's a real shame, as they really haven't looked after their own supporters.
  • That analysis entirely misses the point that a soft Brexit was taken off the table very early on after the referendum, by May's red lines. If a soft Brexit with cross party involvement had been an option ever considered, then I agree it could have been a different result. But we still don't know what we're going to end up with now.

I still think that we were never going to be outside the EU but obeying all the rules of the EU with no input into them, so that kind of soft Brexit was never going to fly, if that was your second-best option. It would be better economically than leaving, but madness.
