Great stage. I just pray that Contador, Froome and Quintana can remain injury free and stay upright throughout the Tour, because if they do then we could potentially have one of the best races for many years.

On the profile for tomorrow's final stage there is a slight kick-up to the line. I take it that it's just a slight incline rather than a genuine attacking chance?

Given the gap now, tomorrow is the perfect finish for the race - everything to race for.
Dancing on the pedals question - is it only me that sees Bertie push much more on the left?

Plenty of time for Bertie to sort out his 'form'

Yes, but we're all desparate to see some racing, and this is a good start.

The Vuelta a Andalucia so far as directed by Martin Scorsese.

Of course this analogy ends up with Froome being shot in the head.

You have to be a great Wind Up fella. (so my turn)

I actually started to admire the Froome style of riding today.

That was bloody fantastic. Boom, El Pistolero was shot to bits! As said above I just hope the top guys all remain fit for the tour and get to the mountains, it could be an incredible race.
  • Nice to see Szmyd up there. Climbing team Colombia nowhere. Kudus 16th.

Just caught up with this, great racing and bodes well for some epic battles later this season.

What a contrast to last year's race with all this attacking riding. Last year it was Sky leading out Valverde until the last 15 metres or so from what I remember.

You're right, I think. If you watch his head bobbing, it goes way out left, then just past centre right. This might just be stylistic though - how his head bobs rather than how much weight he's pushing over, or it might be compensation for a weaker left leg.

    Good spot though.

You could see Froome's breath it was so cold at the top. It looked like someone threw something at him when he was still with Contador, not sure if that has been mentioned?

Superb photo. I love seeing the Brit shirt at the sharp end of climbing action in a race like this

Also, was Froomey riding to his wattage yesterday? He seemed to be off the pace at the beginning of the attacks and then made his through the riders. If he had stuck with contador then he wouldn't have been so likely to lose that 19 seconds. I do wonder at Sky's tactics? :?

Though they are leading this and the Volta ao Algarve, so doing something right!
  • Contador also saying that although people kept saying he was going very well when he won he said he was actually a little slower than usual for this time of year given he has no intention of peaking before the Giro. Previously he would be in better form as would be going for Paris Nice etc.

we should all appreciate this race and not belittle it, it may turn out to be the best of the season.

Too true, those middle east races are pretty useless unless you want some echelon practicing or a tan.

“I believe he’s been training for quite a spell in South Africa, he’s in very good form, and you could tell he was counting the days to come to this race. So being so close to him is very good for me, it’s a good sign. And the team is working well, too, so we just have to go on like this.”

It's quite hard to see as the vid is very grainy, could be the previous day. It was on a corner and the two were close together. Something went flying over from the left hand side of the road, about the size of a tennis ball and white. I know Froome has suffered this sort of abuse in the past so I wouldn't be surprised.

Wasn't the 'abuse' last year an accident?
