Don't change phone then. Simples. Go onto a rolling contract and keep your 5, barely worth upgrading.

Then go and ride your forking bike. It's not difficult. You don't need to plan what to eat or anything like that. Put some clothes on, sit on saddle. Pedal. Mental.
    Giff gaff.

3G £12 a month 3GB Data 500 mins Unlimited Texts. Only sign up month by month too.

njee20 - I kinda prefer a new phone. Buying new to most people means something which you already have either doesn't do the job anymore or is not up to date on features or software and is a little outdated. Plus many other reasons too. But I'm mainly wanting the 5s in gold and white and want to increase memory capacity and ideally want to keep it for a while, a lot longer than my current iPhone 5, 16gb Slate Grey which I've had for 2 years now. The battery has gone faulty and phone keeps freezing sometimes and doesn't work well in the cold and has a chipped screen and to the top edges of the bodywork. The prices are more or less the same for a 16gb or a 32 gb, around £290-340. Apple are charging £499 for a 32gb lol

I don't know what to do really, can't trust eBay as 99% of them come with not Apple warranty but 2nd hand shop warranty and when something goes wrong they don't want to take it back. So this kinda leaves me with not much choice but to either get an upgrade .. or buy 2nd hand brand new from somewhere. I've just spent £619 on a new iPhone 6, 64gb in gold as a present for my sister because my brother bought her a dodgy iPhone from eBay and hardly works but paying in monthly installments over 12 months with 0% interest which is a special offer from Apple. And a £500 DSLR camera in December. So, really need to keep the costs low man. I'll be selling my 5 for around £160 so will re-coup some costs that way.

Chunkers - That's brilliant, I spoke to my brother he said for £3 more you get unltd internet or unltd mins and 5gb personal hotspot. That's with 3g. I might consider the sim only option actually, depends on what they offer me on upgrade. But does that mean you have to top up credit each month by debit or voucher code or is it a direct debit? how does it work?

The 5s is no different to the 5 and the battery is still shit.

    Now go ride your bike

Apple phone owners plan their lives around where they can charge their phones. It's definitely a very cleverly marketed product with a huge flaw.
I will be sticking with Android.

I had an iphone. Unless everything was turned off it wouldn't last the day. My Samsung Galaxy S4 gets charged every other day.

I have an iPhone 6plus. The battery will last a day and a half. Just for balance.

Thing is, they say the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have longer battery life, but my 5 is barely lasting an hour after continuous charge for nearly 2 years now. It costs around £80 to get the iPhone 5 battery replaced directly by Apple themselves, but is this really worth it? I've gone off the Slate Grey colour and want to now upgrade to a gold either 5s or a 6, not 6 Plus as it's too big.

I like things small and compact, nothing which looks too big or dazzling or noticeable which is why when I bought my Canon DSLR camera in December last year, I went for the 100D which is the smallest in the range but still has a full size sensor that's in a full size DSLR. I could have paid more around £1000 for a decent one but what I've noticed is, things lose value quick and I wouldn't have been to happy about that if I did pay that much for one, would've just been worried about losing money and ended up selling it as soon as. I'm thinking maybe in a couple of years time when this camera has had it's days I will hopefully have some spare money to maybe add another £500 and invest in a decent DSLR with a selfie swivel screen like the 700D.

But I think for someone like me and for some of you who might believe an essential like a car or a house has to be the right one if it's for long term, is worth spending good money as it's a long term investment. But things nowadays last half as long compared to how they used to back many years ago. I bet some of you value things in your life, something like a phone which you probably might keep until it stops working after a long time or a piece of clothing you wear till it rips etc even with bikes you might spend good money on which some of you perhaps will aim to keep for many years to come. And I believe that it's worth spending that extra bit providing that it's assuredly robust quality and has lots of life in it.

I'm paying monthly of £51.58 for my sisters iPhone 6 but I think it's a tad lil expensive. What I want myself is a 5s or a 6 in gold, I've seen a 5s on eBay today and Amazon but the eBay one is on bid at £270 with 5 months warranty remaining and is a replacement for a damaged iPhone someone had. This is life now, not just about prayer and exercise, but expenses and bills man and phones sadly have become a reality and now an essential. It's just work and bills, work and bills .. work and bills.

If you want to save money why are you buying Apple kit? Get an Android phone.

If you want to save money why are you buying Apple kit? Get an Android phone.

Well first of all, back in 2009 I switched from PAYGO to pay monthly. I was given Nokias first touch screen phone that had a lil stylus in it which inserts itself in the casing. Very nice phone it was, but sadly it ran on a Symbian operating system which outdates a lot of other phones at that time.

I had Nokia phones since 2005 like a 3210 and a 6230 and they were really reliable, battery lasted few days and the cops couldn't track me down or Pizza Hut whenever I prank called them and placed an order for 10 pizzas and use to watch them deliver at someones address in the street, from my window and they would throw a rant when they opened the door .. :) good days man. Them days their computers weren't as good as they are now so it was harder to trace a call.

But you know, I use to say to everyone I'm never getting an iPhone, because it's just a fashion accessory and everyones getting them, I wanted to be different. But in 2013, I had enough of Nokias Symbian operating system, it was too old and their phones kept on freezing because they tried to put too much in them and so decided to make the transition to iPhone. I was kinda impressed. Don't get me wrong the last Nokia I had was the N8 with the 12 MGPXL camera which had stunning image quality and you could pause videos too. But I liked the iPhone design, software and the apps.

Everywhere you go they have an app for iPhone, but not for Android, you know like Barclays banking, Costa Coffee, Starbucks and so much more. There must be a reason for this, maybe iPhone is regarded as the best and most sold device in the world and has features only compatible with high street stores expectations and demands for what they want in a phone. Most iphones last a long time so I've heard except battery performance.

I'm not too sure regards Android. I like the Lumia 1020 but it has windows software which doesn't look too impressive. Plus it has a stunning camera with HD quality but I've invested in a camera now so don't need a good camera phone anymore.

    But,

I know I'll get back around £150 for my current iPhone which is locked on orange, and I get just over £150 each month in bonuses in addition to my 32 hour a week wage. The bonuses is my spending money and the rest goes in to a savings account. So just might need to put another £150 on top and buy a nice phone and keep it this time till it gets basically old. I don't know of any good Android phones except the popular S4 AND S5, that's about it. iPhone and Galaxy and whoever else are all fighting to be the best bringing new updated versions out every 6 months but I just want one version and keep it for a length of time. Problem is they never put all features in 1 phone, which keeps customers buying more when a newer model comes out,.

Nevertheless, if, as you keep repeating, you wish to save money, don't buy anything by Apple.

Well, if we're ever going to achieve the target of 100 pages for this thread, we'll have to expect to deviate from the topic once in a while. Why not sell the Boardman to finance the iPhones, gym membership, rucksacks, chickens, cameras, trips to Pakistan etc?

Why are you paying so much for your sister's phone?

There was a recall on the iphone 5 battery, if yours is truly that bad then check if it's eligible.

Have you gone for a bike ride yet?
