Can we just get this thread locked? It has served it's purpose. Cody will never ride the 14 miles, will never get his eating issues looked at and never man the funk up.

No come on, we need to continue to 'help' him and write another 30 odd pages of absolute drivel. It was funny when god was involved but now it's just pathetic.

Hi, hope you all had a nice celebration on Christmas day or a nice day off from work or riding.

I had some meat yesterday, some meat from a roast leg of lamb with lots of veg, felt sick all night and in morning.
Still done no riding so far for last 2 week. Need to go Leeds tomorrow to return my camera and buy maybe a DSLR and return some clothes I bought to M & S, however doesn't look like it now that it's snowing. I think trains might be cancelled. But I could go M & S in my local town, doesn't need to be far.

Really want to start riding again, as the weather improves. It's just these last 2 months that have been difficult, adjusting to the weather etc I honestly don't know what motivates some of you to get out in any weather at any time to ride, I just put it down to perhaps regularly doing it and getting used to it and the physical acumen.

    Anyone else ride today?

Now I'm sad. I thought I was unique and special.

Actually, I'm feeling quite buoyed by that fact!
Can we just get this thread locked?

Can't people who find this all so disagreeable just click on something else?

And yet, like a moth to a flame, you have an irresistible urge to keep coming here. Why not just ignore rather than constantly popping in to complain? Your preference is only one click away.

Fair play to Cody though, he/she still manages to play you fools.

How seriously do you think most of us are taking this? Have you not read the thread? Ironically it's you who seems to be taking it seriously.

Hey, maybe Cody is a troll... So some got sucked in (some, like myself, undecided) by a harmless and non poisonous troll (if you think this is notable trolling you clearly haven't spent much time on the internet). Big deal. On the other hand, if Cody is not a troll, you just told a young guy with learning difficulties to fcuk off. Well done.

Yh I know some of you are not being attentive to this thread any longer, unless someone has something interesting to say or relevant but it was my choice to talk about what I want. But thanks for all your help. I really appreciate everything everyone has written or shared in this thread.

I went to Jessops and swapped the Canon SX 700 HS for a Canon DSLR 100D. Really happy with my purchase, just hope it lives up to my expectations. It is infact the worlds smallest DSLR and very light. I had the option to purchase the Canon 700D which was £100 more with £50 cashback and had a pull out flip screen for taking selfies, but didn't want to spend that much more as didn't have enough money in the bank. I could have waited a week or two till I got paid! Haven't tried it out in daylight yet except indoors in low light, but the guy in store tried it out for me, it is really good quality. HD infact. I can use it now when I go riding I can take pictures of my bike in nice places around town and museums and art galleries and national parks. Only problem is I can't attach the images in email as they're too large, so that's a problem!

Cost me £510 all together with 3 year warranty, but should be worth it. I don't know how it compares to a GoPro camera but my brother was telling me about them yesterday, I think the image quality and sensor sizes differ?

    :)

I rode my bike today. It all went wrong and I'm in a world of pain now (recurring spinal injury) but I rode my bike so it was a good day.

I rode my road bike today. The temperature was 0 degrees, but had risen to a toasty 1 degree by the end.
I don't ride it often, but I enjoyed it.
    Bicycles are quite fun.

If cycling isn't fun you're doing it wrong. It doesn't matter whether I'm doing 30 miles in sideways rain up a freezing Welsh mountain or riding flat out downhill and freeride trails in the Alps I always go home feeling better than before I went out even if I have broken my bike and/or bones.

I didn't ride my bike today, I had a hangover. But I will ride it tomorrow and probably do a quick 15 mile loop

I just rode my bike in -2ºC to test out my other half's new lights that I bought her for Christmas. I've now got ear ache! But... the lights are amazing considering I only paid £17.99 for front and back complete. They were so cheap I took a punt and bought two sets. These, if anyone's looking...

Can't say if they'll last for that price, but they've made a great first impression. And delivery was bang quick, as well!

Ride was only half an hour, but a great blast through the woods in the dark. An owl flew along side me for a few brief seconds. Magic!

Ride your bike, Cody, it will mend your life.

  • I rode my bike to a model airplane flying area to meet my wife and daughters to fly her (daughter's) quadcopter.
Very cold, wet and muddy bridleway riding, but still good :D

  • I deliberately rode yesterday morning before the temperature got too much above freezing so as to ride the frozen trails which is awesome fun and usually a fair amount of grip available. I even got to remove a base layer as it was starting to get too warm.

Shall be doing the same tomorrow.

Grip was immense until I hit any rocks or roots.

I rode my retro Kona Explosif around the Surrey Hills today. Singletrack, mud and rim brakes make things interesting.

I ate a juicy blueberry Frusli bar. It was fruity. When I got home I had some cold chicken and a small citrus fruit.

After my road ride yesterday I am feeling a bit shagged. So I will rest tomorrow.

I have a group ride planned for New Years day, and will use a FS Kona. With sensible brakes.

    I feel happy.

Riding is fun. Sad people should try it.

I just had some stew of chicken and vegetables.

I'm worried as its only my second meal of the day after earlier eating a bread baguette of pork that was pulled. This came with bbq sauce and not the usual white sauce after you pull pork :?

Grip was immense until I hit any rocks or roots.

I rode today and it was frost everywhere and I was really surprised how grippy it was. I was expecting to be all over the place but I was able to crack along at my usual pace. And once I'd worked up a sweat I couldn't feel the biting cold. So all round, a fab ride. Even snapping my chain on the third pedal stroke of the ride was a four minute fix so it was worth getting out into the cold (are you listening Cody?).

I decided to reward my efforts with a giant Chinese takeaway - Chicken fried rice, sweet and sour chicken balls, curry sauce, chips and prawn crackers. I'm so full I could sh!t the bed!

We had some pork chipolatas the needed either cooking or freezing so decided to try and make toad in the hole.

Made way too much batter, so while it was cooking we made pancakes for desert, but as they don't keep, had them as a starter instead.

I'm so full I could sh1t in Angus' bed.

Perhaps a brisk walk is in order.

It's funny reading all of the above, some interesting things being said lol

This is one of the problems I have, I tend to work up a lil sweat then soon as I get home, crave food, or slightly crave food. Post ride binge, but I've kept it a healthy binge when I do decide to eat. A vegan spinach smoothie or a fruit smoothie, but haven't ridden for 3 weeks now. I'm not liking this weather one bit and I have no energy or motivation to go for a ride. It's either the cold that's getting to me or I'm not geared up right, something's obviously being done wrong. it's New Years Day tomorrow, have a day off from work, will try to do something during the day on my bike, I think I'll go park.

Why would you snap your chain in the cold, is this something I should be worried about? I don't know how to fix modern bikes so, I must learn.

If it's cold then keep pedalling to stay warm.
On Monday the max temperature was 1 degree but I was warm enough in just baggy shorts, my summer lightweight armour and a nice light freeride jersey.
If you want to ride the weather shouldn't put you off. I have had some great rides when it's been so cold (-10ish) that my camelbak tube has frozen, gear cables have frozen and I have had ice forming on my face but the grip on the frozen trails was incredible.
Maybe it's time to put your bike on ebay and sell it to someone who will use it as god intended.
