we answered all of this in the thread you posted about lights. i believe links were also posted. i told you those nima lights would be crap apart from emergency get you home lights.

you do have a case of severe selective memory don't you?!?

but bright lights will momentarily blind would be murderers giving you at least a 5 second head start to run away

Buy you can trust strangers if its light? Im sure your mummy wouldnt approve
  • You'll need more than 5 seconds head start with your lack of energy. Think flood lights or eat to help.

he wanted to sell his bike

he's now keeping his bike, but is too tired to ride it

he's muslim, so listens to a 2000 year old prophet for dietary advice and not general good sense

he won't ride the bike in the rain....or at night

he copy and pastes a a lot of stuff about religion

    he doesn't believe in evolution

probably more stuff, but that's about it

Haha, thanks for the summary! I think I'd got up to him deciding to keep it again then forgot all about it. Sounds like I should have stuck with it! Might go back next time I have a few hours to kill on the train.

I take it he is of a young disposition then, if his mum is giving him advice about the big bad scary people who roam the streets at night?

A friend who studied food technology gave me some very simple, but extremely effective advice. Food comes in many forms, some better than others - 1st (best): raw, 2nd: cooked, 3rd: frozen, 4th: tin, 5th: box/packet. This scale will guide you as to what is good and what isnt. Self explanatory really...

Neilus - Thank you for that, will check the diet link out out soon as I get home.

Just want to ask about the light, is it the light which was reviewed by Supersonic in the MTB General thread earlier this week? and how do I attach the battery pack to the bike, does it come with cables? How good is the light as I want to avoid paying a lot of money if my small lights do the same thing and have the same output and is this the light many of you use for dark nights on hard to see pathways and canal towpaths and how good is it? I'm asking these questions about it because I want to get it right and avoid buying so many lights as it's all adding up in terms of expense.

Let me know and I will make the purchase tonight hopefully, thanks.

Angus Young I'm having 3 meals today. Had breakfast at 10, had tuna baguette sandwich at 3, and an evening meal at 6/7 tonight.

What's your diet and weight like, if you don't mind sharing just so I can get an idea of what it's like or how much I should be eating ..
  • Cody, search for a review of a light I wrote in general, it ok for the cash. It isn't going to set the off road world on fire but is alright for a few quid.

As for diets, I'm good at giving advice but weigh a metric tonne because I like red wine and beer far too much.

That said todays diet is pretty healthy:

    Breakfast - Porridge
Lunch - Mome meade stilton, brocolie and celery soup and a toasted wholemeal pitta (loaf of brown bread in the bread bin had gone mouldy  ) followed by a lof fat yoghurt
Dinner - Sweet and sour pork with rice noodles.
Snacks - 2 tangerines and an apple (so far)

Alcohol consumption - Hopefully nothing

I'll probably do this http://app.strava.com/activities/218178909 again as I haven't ridden in a month, just ate and drank what ever I liked so I'm feeling it now and need some excersise.

Eating properly and getting a decent sleep etc is great advice but you don't need a training program or fitness regime to simply jump on your bike and go ride it. Fair enough if you want to do serious distance but not for a few miles round the local park/woods/canal etc, which will build fitness and make you feel more energetic anyway. I wake up tired and hungry every morning but still get on my bike and ride to work regardless of weather, and I certainly don't have the healthiest lifestyle. I mean this in the nicest possible way but it sounds like it's more of a mental problem to me, and things like lights, weather, badman on road, lacking energy etc are just excuses. Whatever the issue, remember it's only riding a bike.

I must have missed it and have a memory problem, perhaps due to my eating habits.

I want one of them cree lights (like the one above Neilus posted a link to) but I am not paying nearly £30 for one. In the above listing Neilus provided a link for a light which has 2 LEDS and a battery pack, and the black is more expensive than the red, I don't know why. I've seen a 3 LED one by a diferrent seller for around £20 but that above seller who is selling the SolarStorm XL-L2 has lots of lights at different prices, but don't know which ones reliable. Supersonic did a review of one a few month back but they're out of stock on ebay. What do you suggest, 3 LED or 2 LED and at what price for a good one? I want one before the weekend so if you could help me decide tonight, would be very helpful. I somewhat like the one above, the one Neilus suggested but unsure as to how it will perform. I just need it to flash on a night, nice and bright, very bright. If you think I should pay £28 for this light in black, I will consider it. I'd love to read your opinion.

I think you could do without the beer. Stick to wine if you can't resist a drink, I'm not encouraging alcahol but I think you could do without it every now and then, I've never tried it and perhaps I never will but I think you should sometimes give it a miss. Then see how you feel, light headed or heavy headed and how it impacts on your cycling performance etc If you refrain from wine in this world, you will get to drink from the river of wine in the next world but not wine which makes you drunk, it will be of a beautiful taste and exotic. Also rivers of milk and honey pure to those who taste it. Yep, god's promise is a promise. I mentioned a few threads back in relation to pork, it's forbidden for us because god said so and he is testing us but if we have no other choice we are allowed to eat it e.g if we were dying and had no other food we can cook and eat it. But in next life we get to eat what we want. So if we see a bird in the sky of paradise it will come to us cooked on a plate, we can eat from it and it will come back to life and fly off again.

Stilton broccoli and celery soup. One of my favourites I buy from Morrisons or Tescos for around £2.00, It's kinda fresh but in tubs, not cans. I've bought some tomato and basil and soup so I can have tomorrow evening before or after my 20 minute bike ride. I'm getting in to soups now, I tried carrot and corriander but it's a bit heavy with bread, I kinda prefer it with sweetcorn, mackarel pieces and celery sticks cut in to pieces.

Otherwise I think your diets fine. Not too heavy food being consumed there. A ribena should do nicely somewhere in between your snacks and water which I'm sure you have. Try a substitute for pork, try some lamb leg or shoulder meat from lamb or sheep. It's not as heavy as pork or beef but tastes really nice. I'm trying to be vegetarian so I was a veggy for 1 year then gave up, kept getting paranoid all the time and fed up of looking at supermarket labels for hours to find the right food, and now trying again. I eat the occasional chicken burger or chicken breast at home grill cooked and leg of lamb once a month as a treat. Help yourself to some :)

Yes that light will be fine. Way brighter than you'll need, plus it flashes too. The battery pack straps to the top tube with supplied Velcro straps.

You can get them for about £18 if you search

Thanks, yh I think it's a mental problem. Sometimes I just don't want to go out, not many youngsters do nowadays unless it's for a self purpose like eating or dating or drinking. I've suffered from a nervous breakdown a couple of year ago, I was kinda sad before I became religious and found god but I was in a negative frame of mind at that time. I was at college studying law and failed one of my exams and it just wont downhill from there I thought it was the end of the world for me, but it wasn't and with gods blessings I now have a good job a car and nice clothes and a supportive family and hopefully soon my own business, I appreciate life more.

    Besides that,

I have a local woods where I live and it's kinda spooky but I use to cut through there quite often to get to the canal but haven't been for a while. It's a nice ride in the woods, long stream or river runs down at the bottom all way to the river aire. Nice places to rest, sight see and stop to eat and just admire nature. But it has been a place for dog attacks on humans in past couple of years, not that I've ever seen one happen as I've always ridden at the earliest times there to avoid dogs but I plan on going through there to build up endurance. I want to try to avoid paying a lot for bike equipment if I can but I just thought I do need a nice set of lights and maybe a small rucksack for those long canal journeys and train and park rides back to home. I'm sometimes scared of trying things like new routes or going the further distance because my mind keeps telling me not to, but I guess I'll have to find a way round that. As I've mentioned in previous pages I plan on doing 30 mins of cycling 4-5 times a week, just as that video suggested which I posted a few pages back. I'm also intent on changing my diet aswell after getting plenty of advice on here, will try hard to do that. But thanks :)

  • Cody, I need clarification on something you mentioned a few pages back. You mention the Prophets say that one meal is enough for two so you should eat half etc. so if I were to buy and proceed a bag of Haribo Starmix rammed full of Western Capitalised goodness I should only eat half. This I understand.

However I like my confectionary in smaller fun sized packets as I wish to fully embrace Capitalism in all it's glory and I am confused as to the Prophets stance on such a thing. Do I split such a small bag? Did the Prophets have the foresight to predict such a predicament and create a verse that glosses over the issue to suit the need?

Also what is Your God's view on Jaffa Cakes - baked goods or biscuit?

Snack sized confectionery isn't a meal so you don't have to half it. You can eat as many packets as you like.

Jaffa Cakes should be distributed instead of those wafer things at whatever that ceremony at Catholic churches and other places is called - I'd be down for a bit of orangy tasting Christ's body! And make the bloody strawberry milk while we are at it.

jaffa cakes and strawberry milk...now that'd get the crowds in. i'd prefer that to the promise of 72 virgins
