I looked extensively at the Neoshell last year, there were some reports of stitching issues and some about condensation. When I looked at it at £149 in Evans it looked good but quite insubstantial for deep winter. The Alpha jacket is properly good in deep winter. The redesign addresses some of the issues I had about visibility.

It is the waterproofing of the Sportful jacket I like. I have a Gabba which I'm happy to use in cold conditions but as many of other posters have said it isn't great in real wet stuff.

I've recently acquired a Fiandre Extreme, but the short sleeve version. Wore it on Saturday morning (early ride so around 12 degrees)and it coped relatively well up to 15 degrees, so certainly breathable. I run hot though and this would be the very top end of the comfortable temp range for me. Completely windproof as you might imagine, but yet to try in proper rain so can't say what the waterproofing is like. However, I can see this is going to be good in anything below10 degrees. Great fit too. Looking forward to using this autumn/winter. Pocket seams all holding up well.

Those new Alpha jerseys and jackets do look nice, but pricey. Glad they've finally addressed the rear visibility issues, but slightly disappointed in the colourways (I really liked the Mirage and Luna Grey in the old Alphas). Am sure prices will tumble in due course...

Once that new Alpha Jacket comes down to £150 or so it's going to be very hard to avoid a purchase.

Bender - any idea if there's a new version of the Sorpasso 3/4 tights coming out? I can't find the old ones on sale anywhere so assume they've been discontinued.

I reckon quite a few things are on the way. For example, there are warmer condition full tights now too.

  • Ok guys , I am new to all this and gradually moving away from Aldi type jackets. I want to get Alpha was thinking may be I should wait for the price of new one to fall or get the Older version. I was also considering the Gabba or is it a case of one or the other

    Any ideas
