Some fairly big gaps there amongst places 3-10, all solid TTers. I'm wondering what Quintana/Rodriguez might concede to Conador/Froome

Possibly Martin is on an off day. Surprised he didnt beat Cancellara by much.
Or maybe that climb is actually a beast.

  • Oh for the love of swiss cheese!

He puts in a stonker of a ride and still Fabien complains.

    Is he ever happy?

Canc commenting on the tarmac and saying it might be even worse affect for the GC lads.

Saying not too safe, could have been run on better roads.

That was a lot different. It was essentially a mountain TT.

He complains about everything these days though. He should be called Goldilocks, not Spartacus. 'This road is too hard, this road is too soft.."

I think this is an error on the ticker. Not showing up on the 11 km time check.

Froome says it's a tough hill:

"It's a very typical Vuelta time trial. It's very technical and hilly, the climb is very steep. It's not one for the pure TT but still think Tony Martin has a shot of victory."

True :) ...it is pretty broken up though, enough to be a bit of an annoyance for a TT specialist I suppose.

Froome must be bloody glad Kask invented the Bambino, he'd lose minutes if he couldn't look down with a pointy lid. Saying that, even a Bambino can't be anywhere near as aero when you look down as when you look forward.

If he wore Google Glass or Reconjet soon then we'd know if it's a tick or not.

FF will be pleased to know Contador is not wearing any nose furniture, neither has Froome got any plastic crap banged up his nose.
  • Good job Goldilocks didn't do the Giro, with the state of the road surface on the descent of the Stelvio and in those conditions...

    He'd still be moaning now.

A small section of one of the surfaces being moaned about, maybe 100m of rough concrete stuff. Lots of broken surfaces elsewhere too though, like a standard UK lane, and some sections relayed new, not many though.

Evans's time persudes me that someone is going to beat Tony Martin.

Commentators saying Contador is looking smoother than Froome. Looks that way, but different parts of the course so people are looking comfortable in some places and look like they are muscling the bike about at others.

(I was going to post a load of photos for people to see as we go along, but Bikeradar seems really patchy today, doesn't seem as solid since they moved servers the other day).

It's been playing up something terrible in recent days.

AC in wobbly climbing style on one of the tougher slopes, quite an incline.
  • Quintana struggling on the uphill part.... could be a long day for him...

Yes, shame for these threads, as it's nigh on impossible to really post what's going on regularly. (took 3 goes to post this, 4 or 5 to post the other two pics. I give up.... they've messed something up with the new server hosting/db server/bandwidth.

Edit, whilst typing, Quintana down, not looking good.
