Must say, show of force by Nibali. He didn't need to, but he did.

Excellent riding by Majka. Benefits from Rodrigues putting too much in for the other climbs.

Valverde recovered well enough to solidify his second place, for what it's worth. Rooting for him to end up best of the rest.

    Mollema back in 7th position.

Maca, guess who picked Majka for the win today?

Given his recent results, the number one favorite today must be Rafal Majka

Before you go too crazy about Majka's win today. Let me remind you of what he said this morning. "I hope to have polka dot shots tomorrow".

Well I would rather he was tearing it up in the Giro AND the Vuelta. What a race the Giro was - you should check it out. The Vuelta will also be amazing.

Have to say that Frank Schleck's ride this tour had been outstanding!

I'm impressed but he's still 13 minutes away from the real racing ... .

and plenty of scope for him to double that in the TT

I'm impressed but he's still 13 minutes away from the real racing ... Not bad for someone coming back into the peloton this year with the weight of his brother to deal with too.

To be honest mate at the start of the tour, i'd have expected im to be something like 1 hr and 13mins away from the racing by now...

Oh, I agree 100%. But unless he can get back to fighting with the likes of Valverde or at least become a stage winner it's going to continue to look circumspect for the Schleckettes and their former glories. Which is a shame.

Still provisional results. Think he's 9th and Rolland is 10th not Schleck, followed by the enigma which is Haimar Zubeldia in 11th place.

Nice to see Poulidor on the podium. His last stage victory came here back in 1974.

Yes, I saw the Giro. I'd rather see the best GC riders up against each other. As it happens because Froome went out of the Tour we'll now see Quintana v Froome in the Vuelta which should be amazing. But if that hadn't have happened, Quintana wouldn't have come up against a top tier GC rider all season which is disappointing.

I agree. It seemed to me he changed his story...or was down, was happy not to be selected for some other rider so he could rest, then complained about riding.

Either way, I am sure he is delighted. Two stages and potentially polka is huge.

Contador was down to race the Vuelta for the win. Joaquim had it as a major target. Should have been amazing sans Froome but with him in the mix it will be super.

    So who is raising eyebrows?

    What at?

Nibali? Proven GT rider, with no real competition
Majka? Known climber/GT rider, who expended virtually nil energy in the first 10 days
Valverde? His eyebrows are now part of his hair, so can't be raised any higher
